Excellent value for Switzerland. 5 minute walk to station with quick connections to Basel and 1 hour to Zurich. High quality furnishings and TV and spacious room.

Hotel was wonderful and the price was so reasonable. It was in the middle of a quaint fortress old town just a couple of blocks from the Rhine River. It was super close to the train station. It made us feel like we were living 10 centuries ago but yet the hotel was totally updated and very comfortable. Would love to go back.

The hotel location is central, very close to shops, restaurants, cafes. Staff are excellent, very helpful and very kind. Would stay here again when in town.

A nice hotel 15 minutes from central Basel via bus #36. There is a bus stop 2 minutes away from the hotel. Very friendly staff. Breakfast was worth the money. Note to Basel tourists, this is not a hotel located in Basel but Germany so if you want to get a mobility ticket for free public transport you have to book a hotel located in Basel.The room is very spacious. Beautiful hotel with nice amenities such as the breakfast and free mini bar. Staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. Location is very convenient for the train station but also an easy walk to attractions. I highly recomment.

Location was right where we needed to be and the tran stop was right outside - a 10 minute ride into downtown! Super friendly staff got us our room right away. Great bathroomand shower! Will definitely stay there again when we visit friends!

The hotel was very nice, located in central Basel. The only downside was that it, apparently like other recently renovated hotels, did not have air conditioning (and it was unseasonably hot in Basel.

Hotel Spalentor offers a wonderful, well run place to stay in a perfect location for access to the old town or to get to the train station. Old school kind of place wheree they give you a physical key for your room but everything is clean as a whistle.

This was a stressful trip for our family. The team at the Engel Hotel made it less stressful. They helped make phone calls where needed, let us store our luggage for a few hours, provided free water bottles, and were warm and friendly all throughout the stay. As a customer, you will also get a free public transportation pass for the duration of your stay. It was very helpful. Very friendly and responsive staff. I requested a fan a 10pm and they quickly came to my room with it.

We had a nice room on the 18th floor with beautiful views. The room was a great size with a large bathroom. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet had generous selections. Would definitely stay there again.

Very close to the metro that was very convenient for traveling all over Basel

We stayed at the Steinenschanze Stadthotel the day before we took a Rhine river cruise. The receptionist gave us good instructions on how to use the free transit pass to get back to the hotel after we returned our rental car at the airport, which saved us a taxi fare. The receptionist also recommended a good Swiss restaurant within a 10 minutes walk for dinner, and gave us good directions on using the free transit pass to visit the Basel zoo. This place is in a great location. Few steps and you’re in the heart of Basel. Saturdays in the park across the street is a market where you can find amazing antiques and other great finds. Staff are friendly and even loaned me a plugin adapter as mine for some reason didn’t work here. You’ll also get a pass to take the trams for free around the city!
