I took this on Madeira Island, Portugal last May :). It was a dream come true to visit this enigmatic island. I was suppose to visit it back in March but had to unfortunately cancel. But, I had plans to travel in May so I decided to include Madeira! It was really well worth it. I took a few tours but on this particular day I walked solo. A few hour walk in the Serra de Água Valley. Breathtaking scenery was all-around. Mountains, valleys and amazing colors! And this was one of my favorite views! There was actually not many views of this mountain from the path I was walking. I could have very easily missed it! I am glad I didn't, though. And I came at the right time, too - sunset time :).

Madeira Island was the 2nd part of my trip. Finland being first, due to a music festival I was attending. And then a day in Helsinki. And I ended my trip in Switzerland. Was quite a contrast between Madeira & Switzerland ;). And both so beautiful in their own way. A journey I'll never forget!

"Die Wohnung war gebucht und bezahlt. Es wurde aber nie Check-In Information geliefert. Nach unseren verzweifelten Anrufen bei FeWo-Direkt haben diese immer wieder versucht, den Vermieter zu kontaktieren. Alles wurde ignoriert. Am Abend des Anreisetages mussten wir dann ganz schnell Ersatz finden. Dieser Stress hat den Urlaub ziemlich verdorben. Es handelt sich nicht um ein Versehen oder so... in der Wohnung wohnte jemand anders. Also Betrug. Nicht darauf herein fallen! "

"I would have given this property 10 + for location and cleanliness. It has an amazing pool, right next to a shopping center, buses to Funchal center and a levada. "We arrived late in the evening after our transfer from the airport. The resort had arranged the transfer for us and the driver was waiting at arrivals for the 8 of us in our group. He was great and gave us a bit of a tour on the way to Calheta. Our reception at the resort went well and the woman on duty made sure we got down to the buffet before it closed. She was very friendly and attentive to our needs after a long day of travel. Our rooms were modern and clean and cleaned and tidied well each day by the cleaning staff, The buffet was great with a large selection of food items. Drinks at the bar were served quickly and were good. The "drink of the day" by the pool was excellent on the 2 days we had them. The resort is in a beautiful location, nestled below a cliff. There is a public beach next to the resort which has great sand and water access. Evening entertainment was fairly low key but pleasant as we enjoyed the evening by the pool while listening to a musician or watching the dancers. We had no complaints about the staff at the resort. They were friendly and did their job well. All in all I would recommend staying at this all inclusive Calheta Beach Hotel on the beautiful island of Madeira."
