Catalonia Riviera Maya Resort and Spa All Inclusive

Catalonia Riviera Maya Resort and Spa All Inclusive

8/10 Good
"Very clean resort with many things to do. Room was very nice and air-conditioning worked great. We were upgraded to a bigger room for some reason I am not aware of but I did not complain. I always need a cool/cold room when sleeping and this definitely fit the bill. Deck was also nice too and was quite big. Restaurants were nice and clean. You definitely need to book all the restaurants in advance as they fill up quickly. The booking website could use some better work as it was hard to cancel and change reservations. Pools were nice and cleaned every morning. Beach was maintained as best as possible every morning given the bad seaweed season. The beach is not the best but you can snorkel and see many fish. On some days, there was no seaweed at all. Staff is very friendly and willing to help as much as possible. Bars were plentiful with a lot of seating. We didn't upgrade to the privileged status, but the selection was okay. Nightly shows were great and entertaining. Be sure to show up early. All in all in was a great resort. Not sure why there are so many negative reviews. I have been to over 30+ all-inclusive resorts throughout Central America and this was by no means in the bottom half of lower 75%. The only negative is how far it is from the airport; its about an hours drive from Cancun/airport. So if you are booking any excursions that are in Cancun or leave from Cancun, be prepared to spend at least an hour or 2 in the car."

"So many good things to say and people to shoutout but I can’t forget to personally say Carlos and Hadai are the best drink makers and entertainers. Julio is the best contact anyone could dream of on the resort and even helped me recover my lost phone. Camilla is also great and even though I didn’t buy what she sold she is so fun to talk to and persuasive. Maria and another gentleman (forgot his name) keep things very fun and interesting. I really wish I remembered his name because he is amazing from volleyball to water aerobics to the cycling tour. I typically don’t revisit places but this one will be a repeat for sure. I even started doing yoga out there for the first time in my life because Barbara is so fun and knowledgeable. My advice during the hot season is to eat, get some good drinks at the preferred lounge, then head to the beach club until about 3:30. The pools at the resort will pop off and games will begin after this so the resort will be the place to be after 4pm until dinner. I will say my girlfriend’s glasses went mysteriously missing but we don’t know how so I won’t blame the resort for that but definitely use your safe for all personal belongings."

"We had a medical emergency at the hotel and the staff was great and acted quickly at getting us a doctor and continuously checked up on us. Thankful for their assistance. Hotel Was clean except for the shared bathrooms. People failed to flush, but that’s not really the staff but the visitors. Good was average. Would have appreciated authentic Mexican food, but was unable to locate any. The entertainment at night was good. Michael Jackson show Was exceptional. Over all a good experience, but could do little things to improve the experience."

"Great Resort, But It Has Lost Some of Its Hospitality Overall, we had a great stay at Bahía Príncipe. The resort is beautiful, the food was tasty, and my family enjoyed our vacation. However, having stayed here in the past, I definitely noticed a decline in the level of service. During previous visits, the staff seemed genuinely happy to welcome you. You were greeted with a cocktail, employees were attentive, and you really felt like you were there to relax and be taken care of. This time, much of that feeling was missing. It seems like the resort has moved toward more of a self-service model, with fewer staff members trying to handle a lot more. The employees who were there often seemed flustered and overwhelmed trying to keep up, so I don’t necessarily blame them. Even something as simple as waiting for a shuttle could feel like it took forever. We still had a good vacation, and there are many things to like about Bahía Príncipe, especially the food and the property itself. But compared with my previous experiences, it feels like some of the personal touches and hospitality have been replaced by cost-saving measures and a more corporate atmosphere. If I were choosing a resort again, I would probably try somewhere else that still provides that welcoming, catered-to experience you expect from an all-inclusive vacation."
