The kitchen deserves special mention: it’s genuinely well equipped, clearly set up for people who enjoy cooking rather than just reheating food. Good knives and even a sharpener might sound like a small detail, but for us it made a real difference and was very much appreciated. The setting is wonderfully quiet and peaceful. The sense of calm was striking — so much so that even our teenagers loved the silence. With no intrusive light pollution, we were treated to an absolutely spectacular northern lights display on Friday night. Watching the aurora dance across the sky from such a still, dark place was unforgettable and easily the highlight of our trip. The location is ideal: close enough to Reykjavík for day trips, perfectly placed for the airport, and an excellent base for exploring the dramatic landscapes of the Reykjanes Peninsula, including areas shaped by Iceland’s most recent volcanic activity. Ocean Break strikes a rare balance — peaceful, comfortable, well thought out, and perfectly located. We left feeling rested, inspired, and very keen to return."
