"Beautiful property, lovely accommodations and staff. Breakfast was outstanding. The only complaint was that they tried to charge us for missing towels days after checkout that we did NOT take. Upon check out, we were flying to Barcelona and then taking a cruise from there after so there was certainly no need for us to take anything from the resort (nor could we fit it in our luggage with all we had packed)."

"We stayed in a corner room on the top floor. The views were magnificent with a wrap around balcony to relax and enjoy the views. Rooms are always very clean. Staff is great and very friendly. This is my fourth year staying here and my fifth stay. Highly recommend The Gaivota."

"I had such an incredible stay! Where to even begin? The guesthouse was beautiful, well-kept and clean, my room was spacious with lots of storage. Although bathrooms are shared, I never had to wait long for one, if I did wait. The breakfasts were generous with a lot of variety, and the kitchen was fully equipped for cooking. The place was in walking distance of lots of cafes, restaurants, the waterfront. Vanessa (and Charlie!) was a wonderful, warm host. She shared so many helpful suggestions and I enjoyed just chatting with her about Sao Miguel and life generally. :) I highly recommend staying here, and I will definitely be back myself in the future! Thank you so much for everything, Vanessa!!"

"Highly recommend this hotel. This hotel is well situated, about a 2 minute walk to center of town. Parking outside is metered from 8pm-7am, or hotel offers parking 10€ a day. Lot directly across the street is 6€ a day, or if you are ok to walk about 2 blocks- free parking on the street (ask hotel which streets, they will tell you) Clara, Tomas, Luis and Tugo really went above and beyond and help my cousin and I during our stay . Any time we needed assistance, they were happy to help us. We really appreciated the help with the room (Carla) help with the parking and restaurant suggestions (Tomas) lending an umbrella (Luis) help with drinks and poolside (Tugo) . Room was well appointed, as is normal for Europe, beds a slight bit stiff. Hair dryer great, shower water pressure great and warm. Had a refrigerator and safe. Windows looking out to the water (room 414) Floors set up interestingly- had to go up a flight of stairs to get to elevators - 4th on 2 different levels, split levels. Breakfast was excellent and well appointed. Plenty of food and options. They were great at refilling food. Spa was relaxing and very pretty. Suggestions for restaurants and sights:Recommend Cais da Sardinha , Bom Pesquiero for dinner, Tonys for traditional Cozidho (2pm 4pm seatings) go to Poca da Dona Beija for hot springs, dont waste your time at Terra Nosta. Overcrowding and lockers are nightmare. Worth seeing Vista do Rei, Boca do Inferno. Scuba, not the greatest visibility and water is cold."

"This was a super cute boutique hotel in the heart of Ponta Delgada. We enjoyed the morning breakfast in the hotel and had fabulous dinners and lunches in the surrounding restaurants. We were fortunate to get one of the five on site parking spots to keep our car."
