"Excellent place to stay with free parking outside and only a ten minute walk onto the seafront. Breakfast was excellent with lots of choices. We had a double room which was very clean and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. We would definitely stay here again when visiting Scarborough."

"Shower either off or scalding hot, low button didn't work, temperature knob obviosly not connected to regulator turned as may times as you liked in either direction Unable to turn heating off and room was stifling hot Had to go and get toilet rolls Room not refurbed (coat of paint, cleaning areas that don't get done daily) Bedside lights not working No fire extinguisher at point labelled for one"

"Staff was very welcoming and polite. The room was an utter disaster. Dirty walls, smashed door, ripped ceiling, tilted room especially the beds (our kid felt out of bed so tiled), black spots in bathroom, mismatched furniture, big gap under the door (10cm) and the chairs so dirty we where to disgusted to sit on it. The stairwell smelled of chlorine and the hallway was broken in may places. Also the grand entrance where on the ceiling the paint is falling off only held by spiderwebs. Mayor renovations needed!"

"Lovely hotel with great views. The suite was extra comfortable and the roll top bath overlying the sea views really lovely. Breakfast was good. Room very clean. Staff all lovely. The upstairs dining room a little cramped with multiple people - this is personal preference though as I am sure others would like this."

"The nightly rate is reasonable but as they say you get what you pay for. The hotel in areas looks very tired. We had French windows but these were fastened shut- I guess because the little wood balcony wasn’t safe. The water was scalding hot. Some of the light bulbs were out. It was clean though. The spa is a good addition with its lovely Victorian tiles. The breakfast is comprehensive- cooked, continental but a bit bland. This was our third time at the Crown Spa and each time our room seems progressively worse/ tired in appearance. The location is great for getting to the beach and a short walk to the centre. It is obviously popular- especially with pensioners and coach trips. If you know you are not getting ‘luxury’ and want to use the spa facilities The Crown Spa is decent value. "
