Close to Weybridge and Cobham, both areas offer a variety of places to eat out and other shops with a nice mix of usual High Street staples and independent shops and eateries. "Room was simple but spacious for our family of 4. It was very far from the main hotel areas though, and lifts being out of order between buildings made it incovenient with a buggy and luggage in tow. The bar and pool areas were lovely. The a la carte restaurant was a bit limited for kids and gluten free options, but was good to also have the option of the buffet style restaurant which was a better plan with children."

"I had a lovely stay at the Red Lion. My travel plans got changed, but the staff were incredibly accommodating and immediately put me at ease - couldn't do enough for me which is always appreciated. The rooms themselves are very cozy and comfortable - I particularly liked the abundance of bird paintings and prints as decor, they were genuinely nice surprise. The shower was a particular highlight, two different showerheads, great water pressure and some lovely complimentary shower gel and conditioner. As I was staying over a weekend, the hotel staff took the courtesy of warning about potential noise from the nearby high street, however this was a non-issue during my stay - once the window was shut, I put my head down to sleep with no issues whatsoever. I would quite gladly stay at the Red Lion again next time I'm in Basingstoke, the place has a real charm and character to it and the service was genuinely excellent."
