"Such a treasure in Grindelwald. My wife and I loved this quaint hotel. Doesn’t have a lot of bells and whistles like a 5 star resort (no pool, no ice machine, no fridge but they have a wonderful breakfast in the most beautiful setting & the room we stayed in (34) was perfect for us. "The staff is incredibly welcoming, friendly, and professional. The hotel is located in a scenic town with a lot of history. However, the room was terrible. The smallest i’ve ever stayed at. There’s no air conditioning, and even though we were still in May, the room was quite warm and « stuffy » to a point where we were sweating profusely. There’s a fan in the room, but it makes a lot of noise when turned on and you can’t sleep. There are two windows but you have to keep them closed because that area is full of insects. Lastly, breakfast was mid, no variety. Overall, the stay was a 4/10 only made better by the lovely staff working there. "

"I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Dakota. The hotel is a very short and easy walk from the train station, so it was easy to get around. There are many nice walking trails in the city, and the train ride to Lake Brienz is very short and convenient. The area is in a beautiful valley with gorgeous waterfalls nearby, including Reichenbach falls. There are also many nice shops nearby as well as a crafting/farmers market in the mornings. It was easy to book a small and affordable but comfortable room as a solo traveler. Highly recommend."

"We were traveling from the USA and were looking for something in Central Switzerland that would be nice, quiet, beautiful and easily accessible by train or bus. I had never heard of Hasliberg but decided to take a chance and glad I did. The hosts were very sweet and spoke English well enough to answer any of our questions. Ruth would ask us what we would like for breakfast and would make whatever we wanted. The views from the dining area are out of this world. The chalet was very cute, nestled right into the mountainside. The rooms was a good size and it was very clean and comfortable. The location is at the top of a mountain so transportation is by car, bus, or the Gondola. We used the Gondola and then walked to the train station to do our side trips. The train station is a 15 minute walk from the Gondola, but that was our preferred way to go because the town was just beautiful to walk through. Lots of dining options around as well. I highly recommend it. I did some fun hikes while visiting as well. One was up the falls and the other was along the gorge. You can’t go wrong with a stay here. Great people, nice place, gorgeous surroundings. And it’s away from all the cities and American tourists. "

"Everything was great with the hotel... except AVOID the restaurant. The food was fine, but it was 2x the price it should have been. For $30 swiss francs, I got a plate of mostly rice with a little chicken tikka on top. I also had to pay extra for naan which was not fresh. We were the only people in there and there no chance they made everything we ordered from scratch based on how fast it came. "
