"The room and landscaping of the resort was very clean. The staff was professional and polite. Very family friendly resort. No issue with hearing people in units next to you. It was great! Only issue I had was the wifi. The wifi connection is not the best. That is the only thing that needs improvement."

"Overall, I enjoyed our stay!The house is beautiful and full of historic character, and the river view is absolutely gorgeous. If you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, this is a great place to unplug.Because the house is over 100 years old, it does have a few quirks to keep in mind:The Bathrooms: They weren’t great, though because of the sheer age of the home, it was hard to tell if they were actually dirty or just showing their age.Hot Water: We didn't have hot water for most of our first three days. However, the hosts were very responsive to our messages and did finally get the issue resolved.Air Conditioning: My family tends to run very hot. The AC struggled to keep up with the peak afternoon temperatures outside, but it wasn't too unbearable. We ended up putting fans in the bedrooms, which helped immensely with the warmth.The property is fairly remote-about an hour away from most major attractions, restaurants, and grocery stores. We did eat at Anna’s Pizza and Italian Restaurant, which was quite good and only about a 15-to-20-minute drive from the house. My absolute favorite part of the trip was simply sitting in the Adirondack chairs and looking out over the river. I also highly recommend trying the on-site creamery, and the kids thoroughly enjoyed the pool!The biggest thing to remember is that this home is a century old. But if you want a beautiful, peaceful environment with tons of unique charm, I would certainly recommend it."

"Room was clean and comfortable, you would never know you were staying over very busy restaurant. You to hear no noise from the diners and there were no food odors from the kitchen. Also the food at the restaurant was excellent. Quiet out of the way place with exceptional water views. Will definitely visit again"

"My family had a great time staying at this lovely home. You are right on the James River which was great for kayaking and exploring. The view was beautiful. The kitchen was well stocked and the beds were comfortable. The ferry was 2 minutes down the road which was very convenient and a lot fun to ride each day. If you are headed to Williamsburg I highly recommend staying at this beautiful home."

"We return to this pet friendly, secluded spot every year! It’s the best escape and disconnect if you’re looking to relax and clear your mind! Highly recommend Surry Seafood for a nice dinner out (about 12-15min from the house), but recommend bringing groceries, because you truly won’t want to leave once you arrive. We already look forward to our stay next year!"

"This beautiful home housed three generations of eight adults with ease and charm. We each had plenty of room to relax on our own, but more importantly we were able to gather for meals and in the evening to sit and chat with each other. (Also, even with so many people, we never ran out of hot water!) The house has something unique to look at in literally every corner and on every wall. The grounds are spectacular with the beautiful garden as the crown jewel! We wanted historic charm for this trip, but we got so much more than expected. The host, Cliff, was so responsive and there was easy to follow instructions, tips and history about the home and area right inside the foyer. To top it all off, every space in and out had fresh flowers (even the mudroom!) Such a sweet touch. This is a one of a kind experience and home."
