"The hotel was easy to find, located on the main road with lots of parking. On arrival we were greeted after a few minutes by someone at the bar. It was not clear where we should check in but check in was speedy once someone arrived. Our room was downstairs, there was a life but we used the stairs. The room was on the smaller side despite being a king size. There were too many signs of wear and tear for a hotel of this price range. The carpet was well worn actually bare in places and the walls were tired. Such a shame as the room was ok other than that. Tea and coffee facilities and hairdryer, toiletries were appreciated. Unfortunately, all the doors are heavy wooden doors and bang SO loudly so all you hear is bang, bang, bang! I would seriously advise that soft close hinges were applied to these as other than that the hotel room was quiet. We didn’t eat dinner in the hotel but returned after dinner for a drink in the bar and were impressed by the selection on offer. Upon check in we were not advised anything about breakfast despite checking that it was included so in the morning made our way to the restaurant where we assumed breakfast was being served. This was correct but poor customer service that this wasn’t advised prior to the event. Breakfast options were good and service was prompt although the omelette was microwaved which was disappointing. We also found grizzle in our sausage which put us off. Not a bad hotel just could be better."

"We loved everything about this cottage. It was spacious and the views were to die for. The bed was so comfortable and the shower powerful! The downstairs was beautifully decked out. We didn’t want to leave! Our dog has never been so happy! Paul our host, was charming and really helpful on where to go and what walks to take! The walk 2 mins drive away, was just magnificent! Our dog Humphrey was in heaven! ( as were we!!) 2 miles from Holmfirth which was stunning. Everything is so quiet here. The odd cow and sheep noise-how blissful is that! Right on the edge of the Peak District and we do want to return! Thank you again Paul! Luke, Minette and Humphrey!!"

"Excellent location in the centre of the village with dedicated parking spaces for each room. Friendly staff serving a good choice of food and drink in the bar and a really good breakfast. Would definitely stay again."

Edgerton Hotel

"4 stars given but you have to take into account the cost. I paid £55 for 1 night. Big room, clean enough, fridge, TV, WiFi. The biggest plus was a POWER shower....very powerful, (I was on the ground floor so not sure if this helped with this). Also a free car park. All in all good value, and at this price you can't have too a high expectations."

The Rooms at the Nook

"We didn't know where to pick up the keys at 1600hrs the bar was late opening, we was also waiting at the wrong Nook bar. Lack of information on where to wait. The bed was very comfortable, the sound of the river over the rocks, sent us to sleep. The bar was good, good selection of ales. Also we didn't have the breakfast, we thought it was expensive at £14 each. Location very hand for everything."

"We had a nice big clean room , hotel overall was very clean, food was lovely, staff we met either night or day were really helpful. We grabbed a parking space, the hotel is central and didnt notice any noise from outside at any time."

"We arrived 15:30 and our room hadn’t been cleaned so they gave us free breakfasts on both days we stayed, both breakfast was excellent freshly cooked, we also had a evening meal which also was excellent. Highly recommend this hotel."
