"Superb pub and rooms steeped in local history - Robert Plant started his career here playing blues guitar aged 15 in the upstairs blues club (sadly not there anymore but the history is palpable). The pub is a treasure trove of history, and so well preserved, from the original staircases and ceramic tiling on the walls, to the original bar. My room was just sheer excellence. Comfy bed, every amenity laid on, crispy linen and a boiling hot shower. Sadly the pub no longer serves food other than fantastic cob rolls and the best chips I have ever had, but there's plenty of great restaurants within an easy walk. Beer lovers will drool at the offerings on draught - the menu is eyewatering. A great find and definitely one to revisit."
