"Lovely inn dating back to 1688. Food was delicious and the rooms were cosy. For those who are on the taller side, it's worth noting that as part of the charm of a building built in the 1600's, you will find yourself having to duck underneath the doorframes!"

"Quiet, remote setting near Hadrian’s Wall and lovely scenic drives. Authentic 17th century coaching inn with lots of historic charm in the common areas. We stayed 5 days in the clean, comfortable family quarters with plenty of room and a huge shower. Nice, friendly staff. Really good food. The eggs benedict at breakfast was super. Plenty of free on-site parking. Heads up to foreigners: Do your business in GB Pounds. Although we were not asked our preference, we received a 4.95% upcharge to convert payment to our local currency. "

"Wasn’t aware until shortly before our visit that we’d booked during the Appleby Horse Fair so following a Police advisory, they weren’t selling alcohol. Which was a shame as I like to drink local brewery beer when away, but we were allowed to bring our own bottles. In all other respects, our stay was amazing!"

"Lovely old pub. The rooms great and clean but the beds were a bit bumpy. The staff were very friendly and helpful. On the first night, I had belly pork, which was very tender and tasty. The second night I had a burger, but it was dry. All in all, it was a great break"

"A quick overnight stop on route to Glasgow. A lovely tranquil place with a lovely bar area overlooking the gardens. Bedroom had a seating area which was an added bonus. Comfortable. A good hearty breakfast!"

"Had a very pleasant stay at the Norcroft Guest House. The hotel is clean and comfortable and located in a quiet part of Penrith, just a short walk away from the town centre. The hosts are very friendly and responsive. Great value for money too!"
