Waterfront Southport Hotel

"Great spot overlooking the water but hotel was a bit run down despite being very modern. Breakfast was great (buffet), nice walk outside room. Main hassle was room was super hot on arrival and you cannot open the windows very wide to cool it down. The air-conditioning did not work (even with windows closed), so after a major sweat we were eventually able to cool the room by using the random electric fan left in the room and opening the door to flush out the heat a little. Not ideal after a hard day out"

"The accommodation was very good. Breakfast whilst adequate, was not as varied as I’ve had elsewhere. Eg. Scrambled eggs or no eggs. Hotel not easy to find by car and sat nav. Mine gave up. Haven’t seen so many no entry signs in such close proximity and never seen a “Bus gate” before. Beware of this as sat nav’s want to take you through it. DON’T GO there. I’ll probably have a ticket on the mat when I get home. Only one disabled car parking bay and that was coned off. Arriving by train? Not easy getting directions although apparently a ten minute walk. In summary, good value accommodation but not easy to find the hotel or a departure route from it."

"Room was exceptionally clean and well maintained and stocked up during our stay. Staff were first class, especially the bar and catering staff who were always on the ball. Room itself was fairly small on the top floor but with adequate storage provision. Bed could have been a bit more comfortable, and bathroom door when open left little space to move. Would be better if door opened outwards. Evening entertainment was varied and enjoyable, and the breakfast quality was excellent. Would have liked a larger table for breakfast as the small square tables are quite tight for 2 people to fit everything on the table."

"Clean and tidy staff helpful and very polite . We was on the first floor no beach view but room was excellent only thing missing was a small fridge. On the corridor there was a fusty smell not sure what it was but it didn’t stop us enjoying our stay ."

"We stayed in the gate house as a family of 3 and chose this hotel as it was a short drive to the flower bowl entertainment centre. The room was out of the main hotel in a separate building and was nicely done with comfy beds. We had an evening meal in the walled garden restaurant and both the food and service were great. We didn’t use the pool as it was £10pp to use the facilities. The only thing that really let down our stay was the buffet breakfast as many of the items had not been refilled leaving many items not available and the food that was there was cold. As the breakfast was an added cost to the room I wish we had gone elsewhere for breakfast. I did tell the receptionist on check out as there hadn’t been any staff around at breakfast to tell and was told he was sorry to hear that."

"Staff very helpful and friendly. We were also upgraded, due to it being our wedding anniversary, and they gave us chocolates in the room and put petals on the bed. Very comfortable nights sleep would highly recommend"

The Regal Hotel

"Hotel being renovated and updated. Our room was spacious and clean. Had everything we needed.comfy bed. Plenty of hot water. We arrived late so didn't see staff . But everything was ready for us Will stay again. The upgrades are lovely"
