We toured Croatia and Italy for 17 days in late summer 2014 and this hotel was heads and shoulders above everywhere else we stayed. This has become the new comparison point for any hotel we'll be staying at in Europe for years to come. The room was large, clean, and well appointed with excellent finishings through out. The Grand Hotel Duchi d'Aosta opened in 1873 and still has the look of an older era-- but with all necessary updates for comfort. The staff was helpful, the room was comfortable, breakfast was delightful (would have liked to have it outside, but some noisy construction was currently going on), and the hotel feels like it's at the center of things with its location on Piazza Unita' d'Italia. Alas, we only had a day, but I would happily return.
