Property is located behind a security gate. Easy 1 min walk to the beach from the casita. Private chairs waiting for us on the beach and easy walk to the restaurant located at a resort.
I have nothing but good things to say about our stay. The host was awesome and responsive to my questions. The caretaker Luis who lives on the property was great he was there for our needs. The beach is 100 yards away and snorkeling gear and kayaks were available for the guests use. You won't be disappointed.
We loved it! Prompt communication with Glynis. Luis was an incredible host.
The casita had everything we needed for a self catered 6 night stay. A car is recommended for freedom of moment to the surrounding area as there is only the restaurant at Jashita hotel.
This is a secure community and we shared a private part of the beach with the 4 other casitas and the villa on the property. It is a stunning bay and we highly recommend staying here if you would like a quiet and relaxing holiday.
We absolutely LOVED our 4 day stay at Casa Playa Maya! It was the perfect quiet, restful getaway for my husband & I. Luis met us as we parked and gave us a tour, instructions, and answered all our questions. Throughout our stay, he was always available in person or by phone for restaurant & activity recommendations, setting us up with snorkeling equipment & kayaks, and any other thing we needed. Casita #4 was lovely - clean, well equipped, private, and comfortable in every way. It was nice to have our own deck overlooking the pool & a bar-b-q to use for cooking (on top of the nicely stocked kitchen.) The beach was fantastic with hammocks, lounge chairs, shade, and such a gorgeous view. We thoroughly enjoyed snorkeling for the first time in the clear, warm water with coral reefs accessible (a small one 50' from the shore and lots more out in the bay.) I highly recommend this place and the staff who manage it!
Very satisfied with this studio which we rented for 2 weeks. We arrived late the first night and we were exhausted! It was so wonderful that Luis was up and waiting for us - and helped us get our luggage up to our room and get us settled in. So appreciated that! The bed was super comfortable for us, everything was in working order, and Luis (on site property manager) was easy to contact and quick to respond to any needs. Soliman bay is a very special place to be. We spent quite a bit of time hanging out on the beach out front - using the kayaks and snorkeling in the protected bay. The coral structures, fish and warm water makes this a great place to spend time especially if you value a quiet environment to read, relax and chill out. Only occasional beach walkers going by. I would stay here again - my only suggestion to the owner would be to have 2 adirondack chairs for each cabana lanai instead of 1 so that 2 people can sit comfortably together instead of 1 person in “the good chair” and the other in a straight backed wooden chair that is not for long term relaxing! Again - loved it and would stay there again if the price point stays reasonable.
This property is located on the most beautiful, quiet bay. The casita we stayed in was clean and well taken care of. Luis, the property manager was incredibly helpful and kind. Can’t recommend this place enough.
Overall we greatly enjoyed our stay. The room and pool were lovely day and night. Luis made our stay; he was very helpful and available. He gave recommendations on snorkeling and kayaking in the bay, authentic local restaurants and places off the beaten track to visit. The only thing we wish would have been proactively communicated in the listing or by the owners was the masses of smelly seaweed in the bay and along the Maya Riviera during this season. We still had a great time, just spent a lot less time on the beach.
Everything was as expected and the place was clean, beautiful and close to the beach. The staff were great, owner communication was great. The only problem, which is completely out of their control and impacts every beach, is the Sargassum. It got pretty bad on our last few days, but we found other fun things to do (cenote, ruins, snorkling).
If you are looking for a quiet, welcoming and warm beach location with a calm protected bay where snorkeling, paddle boarding kayaking or simply sun bathing is your thing, this is your place. The on property staff (a lovely English speaking husband and wife) are there to help you with all of your needs. This property is a top shelf vacation spot and we will certainly recommend it to travelers.
Talk about hospitality! Gorgeous place but the thing I’ll remember most is the hospitality of our hosts. I highly recommend!! Nora and Steven from Tennessee :)
We enjoyed the stay. Luis the property manager was helpful. The location is perfect. The room is on the second floor which wasn't an issue for us. There's great snorkeling just off the beach. Tulum is close and there is a local Market with restaurants.

A great area to stay for a different season than a different place
It's a beautiful place (during other parts of the year) and the owners were nice enough to let us reschedule multiple times due to the Covid restrictions.
Something's to know before you go...
The entire area has a massive seagrass problem. Words do not do this justice and I would highly suggest you between December and March. After that you will be trudging through sometimes feet of dying seagrass from shore to 30 to 40 ft out and stained water.
The first unit we stayed up, Casita 4 did not have full windows, had an incredibly hard bed and was inundated with ants.
We moved to Casita 2 still had a hard bed, no ants, a non-working microwave and intermittent hot water.
The owners did not let us know about the extent of the seagrass issue until after the cancellation deadline. This was also the same for other guests we found out while we were there.
We asked to be moved to a different unit, and more expensive one and offered to pay some difference in cost so that we could get a bed that we could sleep on. We were met with suspicion, disbelief and told that they would get back to us the following day. We never heard from them again. At that point, we had to leave because we could not sleep tonight and our backs were incredibly painful. For people in our middle 30s to middle 40s and in great shape. So I can only imagine how others would feel.
I understand the seagrass problem has to be incredibly frustrating for owners. I feel that it's only right to be honest and upfront about the severity. I also think that it's fair to have a comfortable bed to sleep on, hot water and a functioning kitchen if that's what you're buying.
Solomin Bay is beautiful and we have been there five times now. It's worth renting a place on during the good months. I might pass on this place in the future though. It needs some TLC.
The positive side, Luis (the caretaker) is wonderful. He can only do so much though. If you're looking for a low budget place on the bay with the best snorkeling possibly on the Yucatan then I would give this a shot but be prepared for touching it out a bit.
The property was more than listed. This is truly a hidden gem that we hope can continue to be preserved for its beauty and nature. Luis and his family went above and beyond to make our stay one to remember and hopefully return in the near future. Glynis recommendations and accommodations were spot on.
Perfect quiet getaway on the beach. As always, a highlight is the property management team of Luis and Anabel. We highly recommend opting for a meal in from them.
The property is quiet, the units are spacious and well accomodated, and the beach is beautiful.
This was such a secluded and beautiful place. It was a bit of a distance to downtown Tulum, but worth it for the beauty. The hotel restaurant on the beach is amazing!
Luis and Anabel alone made our vacation one of the best we’ve had!! A+++ service and location
Amazing location with our own private beach. Kayaks, paddle boards, snorkel and relaxing in our beach chairs. Great view of the gorgeous water and bay. Our hosts/property managers Luis and Anabel MADE our trip... they are amazing hosts, very friendly, Louis speaks great English and they are there to serve you with whatever needed. Helped guide us to great cenotes around and food spots. This is a more of a private quiet getaway scene and having Louis there just made it perfect for me and my wife. They also will cook for you and stock the liquor if you provide with a list and pay them on arrival. Annabel will even make you a great meal!! (Phenomenal cook). Only 15 mins from Tulum and 30 mins from Playa Del Carmen!! Perfect location. We will be back and highly recommend to anyone!! Kid friendly as well. Place was clean and plenty of space! Enjoyed the pool to rinse off as well. Outdoor shower to rinse sand also. A+++ and we will be back!! Cheers!
Soliman Bay and the location are beautiful. Hosts are very helpful! Only unfortunate part of our stay was the loud and incessant tile saws being used as they were redoing all the floors in the main house/ beachfront.
Casa Playa Maya is a hidden gem in Solomon Bay. Close enough to Tulum and all the cenotes and Mayan ruins. Our studio was on the main floor at the back. It was nicely furnished with a comfy bed and kitchen and sitting area separate. We had a private outdoor sitting area with lush tropical garden leading to the pool and access to the sandy beach beyond. There were kayaks, paddle boards and snorkeling equipment for guests to use. To sum up this was a quiet, peaceful and tranquil place to stay. The host and hostess Luis and Annabel were very accommodating. We will be back!
Wonderful, simple quiet stay in Tulum
This particular spot in to loom is quite beautiful. It offers peace and tranquility, and the atmosphere surrounds you with beauty. The accommodations were perfect for our needs, and we intend to return

Loved our stay!
Loved our stay! If you need to relax and want to be at a quiet location this is a great place. The property is well taken care of by Luis and his wife. The studio apartment was well equipped and very nice. You’re right on Soliman Bay and it is amazing! The second largest reef is right there. We were able to kayak right to it. The snorkeling was wonderful. I saw a turtle every day. Lots of beautiful fish. The house has kayaks and paddle boards you can use. The bay is pretty shallow but I wore a life jacket so I could just float freely without having to worry about standing up when I got tired. Amazing!!!
Tulum is about a 20 minute drive. Every where we ate was wonderful. The Mexican restaurant, Oscar & Lalo’s is right across the highway from the road to the house, it was one of the best meals we had. My favorite restaurant in Tulum, El Vegetariano was amazing.
Nothing negative about where we stayed, it was the best part of our trip.
The negative about our trip, I’ll share in hopes that I can help someone else be better prepared. I feel dumb but this was our first trip to Mexico and last minute so we didn’t do a lot of research. Our fault.
Renting a car, it’s very convenient but here’s a couple things to know. If you rent a car your personal car insurance won’t cover your car rental in Mexico. The least expensive “insurance “ was $25 dollars extra each day. Our rental online was listed as under $200. Once they added all the fees, insurance, gas refill, extra driver, taxes, etc. it was around $600 US dollars. And it was a crappy small Toyota. Hopefully you’ll have more time to research and find a better deal. 2nd, VERY IMPORTANT, on your way back to the airport there are police stops. If you get the luck of the draw, they’ll pull you over and tell you you were speeding. I truly don’t believe we were but we weren’t going to question them, they are very intimidating. They will ask for your drivers license and tell you that you can pick it up at the police station the next day knowing full well that you’re most likely on your way to the airport. They told us the ticket was around $3000 pesos which is around $175 US dollars. We only had $140 US. They said that would work, we paid them, left. What a scam/racket. Lesson learned.

Great place to stay
This was our second stay on this property and it was as great as our visit last year. Last year our family traveled with us and we stayed in the big house. It was perfect. This year just my partner and I went, stayed in a studio apartment that was fabulous. Annabelle and Luis and baby Hector, the caretakers, go beyond what they need to to make your stay the best it can be. No complaints on anything for two years in a row. Will definitely be back !! Absolutely perfect!
You will be hard pressed to find a better location and better accommodations. The apartment has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Kitchen, AC, fans, wifi, king bed, patio, pool at your feet, and the gorgeous beach of Soliman Bay 50 meters away. The care takers live onsite and are wonderful people who will take care of all your needs, should you have any.
Soliman Bay is the most incredible bay you can imagine. White sand, palm trees and coconut trees, turquoise waters protected by a reef barrier, incredible snorkeling and diving sites to view corrals and exotic fish. The dream post card!
