"The pub was lovely and served great food and drink options. The rooms were clean and comfortable, albeit fairly basic and in need of modernisation, but certainly no complaints given the room rate. The pub offers great value for money and is dog friendly. We used it as a stop of travelling south from Scotland and we will likely return. "

"What a lovely old school pub and hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was great (a lot of locals seemed to be eating here too). Room was simple but comfortable and very clean. "I was taken to the room, which was somewhat cramped with ever-so-slightly grubby duvets and extremely thin pillows. All acceptable problems I was prepared to deal with (as was the remote for the oddly-placed tele being dead, but that's me being picky) and I was even able to accept the fact that the shower had two settings - literally scalding (the red of my hand taking hours to go down) or too cold to use. "A pleasing place to rest up after driving through the lakes district. I was in bed by 8pm soundly sleeping. There was no noise from the pub below. Comfortable beds."
