"The Sofitel is only a short walk along a covered walkway from Gatwick North Terminal. There is a trolley bay at the hotel entrance to make luggage transport easy. Check in was quick and efficient. The basic Classic room was fine for an overnight stay. It was very clean with a lovely bathroom and great shower. The bedroom looked on to the internal atrium and so was quite dark, not helped by the standard lamp in the corner not working but the additional small bedside reading lights were a good feature. Tea, coffee sachets and milk were provided although a small dish to put the used tea bags in would have been nice. The only disposal option seemed to be directly in to the bin which didn’t have any liner in it and so it presumably would have to be washed out later. I fully support minimising the use of plastic bin liners but I couldn’t bring myself to lob the soggy tea bags in to the bin. Once settled in we headed down to the Terrace Bar. It was busy but the staff did a good job clearing the used tables to keep things moving along. The beers, pizza and fries were just the thing for a light evening meal before an early start next morning. We would definitely be happy to stay here again."
