We enjoyed staying two nights at Sun N Sea in early April. We enjoyed both the view of the beach/ ocean as well as the food. We were able to walk along the beach and into town easily. The manger helped us find a store which sells a computer charger. We had accidentally left ours at home. The beds were very comfortable and we all enjoyed surfing lessons.

Very nice small hotel, the location and view are wow, which was the first thing attracted us to the hotel as it's literally direct to the beach. The owner is very friendly, also the staff all are very polite and smiling all time, specially Chathuranga is very friendly and smiling. They also have a restaurant in the hotel which I personally recommend it! Nice food options and the prices are very acceptable. The only draw back was the quietness as it was a bit noisy at late night.

Upealla paikalla oleva pienehkö hotelli. Hyvä aamupala ja ystävällinen henkilökunta.Pääsi suoraan meren ranalle . Parvekkeelta oikea merinäköala. Siivous oli joka päivä. Ravintola myös samassa yhteydessä.

Bra litet hotell som ligger i utkanten av huvudgatan i Unuwatuna. Alla är väldigt trevliga och hjälpsamma. Frukosten är enkel men bra, med ett antal valbara alternativ. Hotellet känns aldrig speciellt hektiskt, vilket är en fördel om man vill koppla av vid vattnet. Den enda nackdelen är om man är känslig för ljud, speciellt under kvällar och tidiga morgnar. Det går en ganska högt trafikerad väg precis utanför, vilket kan vara lite störande om man har svårt att sova när det är ljud runtomkring. Men när man inte hör vägen, så hör man istället vågorna, vilket i sin tur är positivt.

Read if you are considering staying a Unawatuna. I stayed 2 hours of a 3 night booking before I checked out. The hotel itself was ok. Though it looks different to the online photos as the rooms don't have the mosquito netting. The bare decor and stone based bed gave the room a cold uninviting feeling. I took a walk in Unawatuna and felt uncomfortable because it was predominantly white. The only people of color were the restaurant and shop vendors. Clearly very unusual in Sri Lanka. All the menus were in English and Russian. I checked out and moved to Koggala, which is lovely. On doing some much deeper research into Unawatuna, I see my instincts were justified. I would advise people do some news and social media research to check if it's a place for you.

Ett underbart hotell intill stranden med fantastisk utsikt. Fantastiskt personal som gjorde allt för att vi, en familj på 4, skulle vara nöjda, vilket vi alla var. Vi stannade en vecka och vi kommer boka in oss så snart vi kan igen. Det var underbart att höra vågorna dygnet runt. Mycket god och prisvärd mat på hotellet. På stranden intill finns också många restauranger. Rekommenderas varmt🌞

We had earlier planned a one-night stay but ended up extending it to one more night as we loved the property a lot. The best things were cleanliness and location. The room was small but with all needed amenities like AC, wardrobe, locker, work desk, cloth stand, and mosquito net ( was very helpful ). The washroom was spacious and very clean. There was a common patio area in front of all rooms where we could get the best view of the sea. Restaurant food was one of the best in Sri Lanka. Highly recommended.

It was really lovely, they staff is very helpful and the restaurant serves delicious food. Perfect location near the end of the beach so it’s a little quieter but still close to all the other restaurants and the main beach. I hope to return someday soon!

Clean, quiet, good shower, good wifi, on the beach, at the end of the beach away from noisy music from bars and restaurants, reception staff very kind and helpful, no fridge in the room,,but got a kettle after 2 days, breakfast very simple and basic and never ready in time waited 20 minutes just for hot water...save your money and book without breakfast....

We stayed here for 5 nights in February 2019. This hotel is located at the end of the Unawatuna beach, and it’s basically ON the beach. The view from the rooms are amazing. The room was very spartan, and only has what you need. Nothing more. You have to ask for cleaning, but they would gladly do it if you ask. The breakfast and the food there was really good. You ordered breakfast from a menu, so it was fresh made. The a la carte menu had big variation and lot to choose from. The pizza was made over a cinnamon wood fire. Really good! When we stayed the had a problem with both electricity and water. So the AC stopped working during a couple of nights (hoooot), and we had to ask them to put or water on almost every time we wanted to shower or just wash or hands. Hopefully this is temporary! It was nice that it was at the end of the beach, because it was less tourists there. But the beach was a little bit better if you went a bit further. Lot of good restaurants at the beach if you want to eat somewhere else. The hotel was good compared to the low cost, but a bit spartan for our taste.

I don't understand the amazing reviews. The place is a bit tired. The main problem for us was the lack of sunbeds. Don't put photos up of sun loungers looking out to sea when you only have 2. All the rest are broken and are just stacked up. Buy some more! Breakfast was good. Staff are nice. The upstairs rooms are a bit gloomy. We stayed in room 7 which had lots of windows, but the blinds didn't work and the windowsills were filthy. AC good. No where to hang clothes. No bedside lights and the light wasn't bright enough to read by. Good position at the end of the beach and right opposite the wine store. Just needs a bit of attention.

I spent 10 days in the hotel and I tried the restaurant too. The hotel is on the beach and about 10 mins walking from the tourist area (mainly bazars, bars and restaurant). I appreciated the early check in. The room was large but extremely basic, no TV, no shower curtains. The daily cleaning was upon request, like the bath linen changing. The bed linen was never changed. The restaurant has a limited menu but tasty and some dishes were unavailable. The cocktail menu would have been interesting but no bartenders available or still in training, so no chance to have something more complex than a rum&coke. The staff was very gentle and helpful.
