Rainbow Cottage - A home from home in the heart of Whitby

  • Ideal for families and small groups, this Victorian cottage in the heart of the town sleeps 5 with a double, a twin and a single room.
    Tucked away in a quiet pedestrian backstreet, away from the noise of the road yet just a few yards from shops and cafes and only 5 minutes walk to the beach.
    The vintage charm of this cottage is blended with contemporary fittings to ensure comfort and convenience whilst retaining its original features.
    You will be able to unload your car outside, and parking is available in the streets around the cottage. We will provide free permits. Keys are kept in a key safe with the code provided prior to arrival.
    Entering through the front door, you will immediately ascend a set of stairs, where you will find a large well equipped dining kitchen with modern shaker style cream units complete with an integrated fridge and freezer, a freestanding oven, dishwasher, washing machine and microwave. There is also a separate wc/cloakroom on the first floor.
    Another set of stairs takes you to a comfortable living room with an original cast iron fireplace, tv with Humax which offers more channels than freeview and a dvd player. There is a selection of books, dvds and board games. The cottage benefits from free wifi. Just off the living room is a single bedroom and contemporary bathroom with electric shower can also be found on this floor. The top floor has a double and a twin bedroom with views of Whitby Abbey.
    This lovely cottage with its central location will quickly become a home from home for your holiday or short break. Please note that the cottage is located over 4 floors and may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility.

Location was good in the centre with main shops, tourist places nearby. Kitchen although dated, well equipped and a good table to sit round.Lounge comfy and good seating.Shower fine but cubicle tiny ..inadequate .. being the only bathroom. Misnamed a fisherman's cottage -- in a back lane in town centre -- no views. Very difficult to access by car.Lane too narrow for our car to turn into .Had to send I person ahead on foot to get parking card.Main bedrooms up one flight of stairs from the bathroom... a headache for night visits to the " loo"!A sensor stair light needed.Car parking scratch cards great Very helpful having car parking card for the whole departure day.Appreciated!

Great property, had everything we needed, very clean, loads of games and dvds as well. The huge fan was perfect for the heatwave! Near to shops and a short walk to harbour and bridge, would recommend and will visit again.

The property could do with a good deep clean but bedding and towels were fine, just quite dusty and handled were sticky. The infuser were quite potent so opened windows but then had cigarette smoke coming in. Shower is also very small. Location good and managed to find parking to it.

A lovely little cottage in the heart of everything on the West Cliff. We went for the weekend. Used the parking 2 minute from the cottage. Cottage is over 3 floors and well stocked with games and dvds which were great. Perfect location and views across to the abbey.

Cosy winter break in Whitby

Lovely stay. The cottage was just what we expected when we arrived as the online listing is very accurate. The location of the cottage is the biggest plus, but it is also appreciated that the owners are generous in providing all the little extra things within the cottage to help you make the most of your time away.

This was are first visit to whitby .what a wonderful place.located in rainbow cottage we were in-between the town center and west cliff beach .both within walking distence . The cottage is just off a street with shops and restaurants and cafes .really easy for provision

Nice location

Easy to get to the beach as well as the shops/harbour so great location. Host communicated well and everything we needed was provided. Could do with a shelf in the shower as it is quite tight when needing to bend for shampoo etc. initially a cigarette smell to the property so not sure if previous tenants smoked inside. Thank you for a nice stay

Our third time staying here and loved it as usual. Sadly don't think we'll be able to as the only downside is there's a lot of stairs and my asking father sadly couldn't manage them very well this year. But for the physically okay it's a nice place in a great location

Perfect location but beware stairs

Very cosy and tastefully furnished and kindly stocked house over four floors.(Only a single room is on the same level as the bathroom).Great location in a quiet side street.Owner was very helpful as to parking advice and assistance.
