Occidental at Xcaret Destination - All Inclusive

"This was my second stay at the Occidental and I believe that this resort is top notch. The rooms were clean, the staff was incredibly helpful, and the food was good, also. We will be coming back for future stays in this area. The only complaint that I have is regarding the dinner reservations. It is inconvenient to have to walk to the front lobby to make reservations for dinner. In addition, most reservations needed to be made well in advance. Because of this, we wound up eating at restaurants off the resort."

Ocean Riviera Paradise All Inclusive

"Hotel was nice. I would not go back due to waiting staff. Waiters act like you are bothering them both at restaurants and buffet. Only exception was Pez Vela. Pool was average. The beach is not great. Not very big and rocky. We visited at the end of May and the beach was full of seaweed. Not an central location and no uber. Taxi is expensive"

Barceló Maya Palace - All Inclusive

"Barcelo Maya Palace was an absolute paradise! My family stayed for five nights and really did not want to leave by the end. The resort is huge and you are never wanting for things to do. My two teenagers were completely happy to just hang out in the gorgeous pool closest to our room, though there were myriad other free activities we could have done. The facilities including our room, pools, walkways, dining halls, restaurants, and beach were immaculate. The staff was really the greatest part of our stay, every single person we interacted with was kind, courteous, helpful, and so very accommodating. Everything about this resort is set up for your maximum enjoyment and relaxation. The food served here was another highlight, not only was it delicious, and mostly made from whole, fresh food, but there was a huge variety (even for someone like me who is a vegetarian and a very picky eater)! If you want to travel off the resort they have plenty of adventures you can plan. My family and I had the adventure of a life time hiking the Mayan ruins at Coba and swimming in the Gran Cenote. All in all, this resort is worth every penny you spend. 10/10 highly recommended!!"

"I had a stay booked at the hotel for a couple of days, I was not able to attend due to an a stroke, I did not cancel, I didn't want a refund, I just wanted the ability to book for another time due to my medical emergency. Which I provided proof of the emergency, I contacted expedia with mention not being able to help me because the hotel didn't want to help. I would not book with you guys again"

"Staff were wonderful and everyone is very friendly. My biggest issue is their lack of care when asking about food allergies. They ask when seating you but have no care whatsoever when taking your order or explaining food options at the buffet. Treat it seriously if you are going to ask. Another big negative is bottled water in the room. With faucet water being non-drinkable, we asked multiple times for the bottled water to be placed in the room by housekeeping, but it was never done. When we called down to the front desk and it being promised to be brought up right away, it took over 90 minutes every time. Needless to say I will not be going back or recommending Xcaret."

"I stayed in the Romance Bungalow by the Lake and had a relaxing, wonderful time! As a solo female traveler I felt safe exploring the resort. The pools are lovely and the adults only section is much less crowded than the other resorts in the complex. I had great buffet and a la carte meals and would recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway!"
