"I stayed at the Chaya house which was absolutely stunning. The staff were incredibly friendly and a joy to speak with. Otsu is a smaller quiet town with lots of character and friendly residents. I highly recommend checking out the local Izakayas and cafes for an equally excellent experience."

"Great host and communication. The house is cozy and it had everything we needed. The air conditioning was great in the Japanese heatwave. In just under 10 minutes, you can walk to some of the nicest streets in Kyoto with temples and cafes. However, everything around there closes quite early and becomes really quiet - so be aware if it’s not your vibe. Not a big deal for me, though. "Excellent hotel in a great part of Kyoto. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The bakery that operates in the lobby was outstanding, as was their coffee. Everything was clean and the room was comfortable. Nice rooftop bar when the weather was nice. Would definitely stay again."
