"Staff were nice. Location is great and the town is very cute. My problem was with the pictures versus what the property was like. The pictures show big rooms, clean new amenities. The kicker was a picture of a plush robe leading me to believe the property was more luxurious. The room size was fine but everything else was very basic, my dresser was on pieces of wood, I'm guessing the noisy refrigerator was shaking it. The air conditioner was loud but it drowned out the refrigerator. The lobby in...
"Excellent facilities and very helpful staff, enjoyed the lake view, fireplace and glamorous sheets. Restaurant on-site was great and breakfast was good. Thanks you"
"Truly one of the most beautiful places we've ever stayed. The woman serving breakfast (they even had oatmeal and fruit for us vegans + oat milk, and fresh made muffins and an amazing looking breakfast for non-vegans!) was so friendly and kind. Would love to come back and stay again!"
"Stayed here for the weekend with my kids to see fall foliage & relax. The campground is amazing with many things to do near by. You do need to bring your own linens and clean up after yourself. The cabin wasn’t to clean when we got there but I had cleaning supplies on hand so it wasn’t an issue for me. The views and private beach in front of our cabin was breathtaking. Can also rent kayaks, paddleboat and canoes there. A lot of activities at the place to entertain everyone"
"My boyfriend is a total hotel snob from being a business traveler for years. I was so happy he actually agreed to stay here after seeing how high the ratings were on the property. Well he wasn’t disappointed and we loved our stay. The inn owners Karen and Kevin were very personable and friendly. The breakfast was great, eggs Benedict one day, quiche, homemade granola, ext. The inn itself is just lovely with a great fireplace that we sat at after we came back from dinner with some other guests....
"I was traveling to the area for a wedding at a local resort and spent two great nights at the Colonel Spencer Inn. Hosts Tracy and Jim are kind and respectful and offered to assist with my luggage. I slept very well in the comfortable bed. Even though the weather was less than ideal, it is in a beautiful setting and I want to stay there again. I had two delicious and filling breakfasts and I appreciated the snacks, coffee and tea bar, and beverage fridge filled with water bottles."
"Great location, very clean, easy check-in, and the communication process was a piece of cake. Overall, this is a great property and could very easily be a 5-star experience with a little more attention to some of the small details.
A few examples:
- The refrigerator worked fine, but the interior light was hanging loose rather than being properly attached.
- Neither light on the stove worked.
- There was one trash bag, but no extras that we could find. Same with toilet paper, and there wasn't...
"Very kind, friendly hosts. Excellent breakfast! Comfortable bed. Attention to detail, cleanliness. Conveniently located close to the Club Motorsports track. Overall great experience. Would stay again. "
