the hostel itself is great. the people running it are very friendly and will give you recommendations for the city. however, the area it’s located in is quite ugly and filled with people living in the street which as a solo traveler can be quite scary.

Wonderful oasis of beauty, safety and calm in a neighborhood that is scuzzy, but convenient for exploring the city. Friendly, helpful staff. Nice courtyard bar. It was fun to socialize with fellow guests as well as staff. I would stay there again if I were to go back to Athens.

Weekend stay through the Athens marathon weekend

The staff was very helpful, in my last day they were also accommodating with my late checkout when I was still recovering from the marathon effort. The outdoor patio and bar is cute, it adds a nice ambiance to the place even though I didn’t take advantage of it as my sleep and rest routine took precedence due to the race. The kitchen / common area is very handy and comfy. Bonus points for the assortment of complimentary premium teas. The area around it is not the prettiest, the streets feel a bit dirty, graffitis all over, but Athens can be like that in quite a few neighborhoods.

Amazing Hostel!

Amazing hostel, very close to a metro that connects to most of Athens. Clean and had a great vibe about it! The staff are welcoming and very friendly. They offer great help with sightseeing in Athens and tips for places to eat, you can also order food through their website to the hostel. Their bar and lounge area was a good place to meet new people and have fun. On my first night we were 7 people who ended up going out together. The only downside is that in the area of the hostel there are quite a few homeless people which might make it uncomfortable for some solo travelers but that’s not on the hostel of course.

Baloo Hostel is great, fantastic hostel and lovely staff. The beds are fine and facilities good. The area is not nice, with alot of drug use all over, and on the doorstep.
