This charming cottage offers a floor plan that will fit any vacationer's needs. Third floor has an open living area, principal bedroom with private bath & a half bath. Second floor has 3 bedrooms with 1 bath. Private walkway to the beach.

Nice Place, Convenient

My wife's parents came to NC from Wisconsin, and we wanted a place that was close to Cape Lookout. This place was perfect. Great views. Clean. Close to the restaurants and really close to Fort Macon. We have a fantastic time!

We also really enjoyed being just a couple of miles from Fort Macon, and having our own personal walkway to the beach through the dunes.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location is great but the house is old and a bit rundown. We had issues with the TV not working but staff at Cannon & Gruber, the property company, responded quickly several times. Mike, the handy man, went above & beyond to get it working and came back when there were still issues on our third day. The roof leaked during a storm and the door on the top floor did not lock. It needs some refreshing.

Nice house

So overall, we enjoyed this property. Even though it was oceanfront, it was quite a walk to get to the beach. Timed myself and it took nine minutes from the back porch till I actually reached the ocean. Considering it was oceanfront it was quite a walk. It is actually an easier walk to take the public access. I should’ve read the reviews about that earlier. The kitchen is a bit small and needs updated pots and pans. The washing machine is possessed and definitely needs to have a new one installed. I had to wash and then do an extra rinse and spin just to have the water drained from the clothes. The house had lots of room and we enjoyed that. It was a bit cluttered with decor, especially in the kitchen. But we had a nice time and enjoyed our vacation.

I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Canon and Gruber are amazing so this is NOT a review of them! We were moved to this house after orginal reserved had issues. This house is old and dirty in a lot of places. Mold on the ceiling and in bathrooms. IT is very large and could accomdate a lot of people BUT if you want to cook, the oven and stove are barely functional - we cook and were unable to. You are a long walk from the beach and can see the ocean but not the beach.

Great beach escape

We had a great time as a family staying here for a long weekend. The property was very clean and the property manager was extremely helpful and easy to get in touch with. You can’t beat the proximity to the beach. Would definitely recommend this house to friends!

Convenient, Clean, and Roomy!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a great stay at the Sand Castle! The home was clean, spacious, and in a nice location. The private walkout was a bit weedy and tricky getting over the dune, apparently atlantic beach does not allow homes to build a walk out over the dunes. We discovered the public beach walkout just on the other side of the neighbors house was much easier to travel with a wagon and family members that have a hard time walking. The beach was very wide and not crowded. It's a farther walk to the ocean than anticipated. We also could not see the beach over the dunes from the deck. We did have a problem with the dryer not working but the realtor was quick with a response and had a repair man out the next day. Unfortunately it required a new part and could not be fixed til Thursday. We made the best of the situation and was able to laundry before heading home. The bedrooms were very spacious and had nice size closets and bathrooms. The kitchen is a little small for a home that sleeps 10 and the furniture in the living room could use an update along with more seating at the dinner table. It is nicely decorated but some are visibly broken and dusty. It could do without some decorations to allow for the occupants things. The garage was a nice added bonus to store our beach items in. Overall, we had a fun and relaxing week and that's what matters most.

Reviewer Comments: First of all, there is only one way in and out of the house unless you jump off a 1 or 2 story deck. Upstairs door does not lock. All of the carpet was absolutely filthy and there was mold in the downstairs bedroom. We could not use the outside shower because the builder of the house next door said he was paying Mrs. Parnell's water bill and the faucet was in the shower which they had to go in. We could not park in the second parking place because of materials used for the new house was sitting on it. Any time we wanted to leave or return in our car, we had to ask the workers to move their vehicles. Trash and soiled clothes were all around the outside. "Stuff" was in every closet of the house, even men's underwear in the upstairs closet! In fact, there was so much "stuff" EVERYWHERE that we didn't have room to put the things we needed to have during our week of vacation. There was no mixer or measuring cups or mixing bowls in the kitchen, even though there were about twenty skillets. Go figure! It was advertised as having internet but internet wasn't installed until five days later. The dishwasher was not attached to cabinet. This cottage was not set up to be a "rental" and this rental agency needs to check this house out before renting it. The good news - we had plenty of towels but we paid extra for that.

Sand Castle was a good choice!

Sand Castle is a great house in a great location. This is a spacious 3-story house with large rooms and a great floor plan for families or groups. There is an owner-suite on the third floor w/ a double vanity, large closet, etc. On the 2nd floor there are actually three bedrooms that share a spacious buddy-bath. (There’s a half-bath on the 3rd floor that adds some flex.) The rear bdrm on this floor is huge with two beds, a sofa and TV, plus a nice covered patio outside with a dune view. We appreciated the larger living room upstairs, although as some others have mentioned, one sofa is torn. Wish there were more chairs for the dining table because it only seats four. The rear deck is large with a great ocean view, although there is no sun protecting other than the umbrella at the table. We were lucky to have temps in the 80’s while we were there, but I imagine it would be too hot to use sometimes. The kitchen has plenty of silverware, dishes, pots etc. but was missing plastic pitchers and storage containers. We appreciated that there were chairs and some beach toys available to use, and I loved the private outdoor shower after the beach! The ocean front location is great! There is a long private boardwalk. The beach is really deep and uncrowded. The house was clean and the beds were comfortable; there are extra pillows & blankets. The décor was super-cluttered with shells, glass and breakable stuff everywhere which was really a headache with our small children (we moved a lot of it to the closets). I think the owners should have a locked closet and put lots of that stuff away when they rent! But the location is hard to beat! You can walk to Ft Macon and Amos Mosquitoes (the take-out there was fast and very good). We were thrilled to find this place for just 3-nights in mid-Sept....provided lots more space than a condo for just a little more money. Thanks!

Another great stay at "Sand Castle"

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is the second time we have stayed at "Sand Castle." We love the location, at the Fort Macon end of Atlantic Beach, and we love the size, with four bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths. The kitchen is well equipped, and the decks have a beautiful view directly over the ocean. The door knob from the garage to the front storage room was locked and broken. We had to walk out the back entrance and around the house to get to the beach. No response to the "Fix It" report during our stay.

Sandcastle

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was somewhat unhappy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Property description is not accurate. Two of the bedrooms are adjoined by a common bathroom. This does not allow for much privacy. Refrigerator is in bad shape- missing the pieces that hold items in the door. Living room couch is in bad shape-seat is torn. You have to go out the front door,street side, and back around the house to get to the beach. It is 100 yards to the beach with the last bit over a steep dune, wooden walkway only covers the first 75 yards. Outside trash collection cans were full when we arrived. Occupants have to put trash out themselves. I have rented from other agencies, they have people who do this for the renter. I am on vacation- don't want to remember to put the trash out. Wi-fi signal does not reach the entire house. Good- Beds comfortable, lots of beach stuff in the basement.

Great beach access

My husband and I traveled to Atlantic Beach with 2 other couples. We found the SandCastle to be situated in a peaceful area and loved that it was right on the beach. It had plenty of room for the six of us. The inside was a bit worn and it would benefit from a little de- cluttering; less decorations and more clear surfaces instead. But while I would have preferred it to be a little nicer on the inside, it still provided us with a great place to stay while we enjoyed the beautiful beach for the week.

Vacation 2021

Everything about our stay was fantastic!! From finding you online to the rental process to check in( super easy) to our stay. We absolutely loved our time on Atlantic Beach. We will definitely be back!

runaround from property management

It seems as though we were the first occupants of the season and the rental was not prepared. We did not have any towels or linens the first night so we couldn't shower to go out to dinner and we had to sleep on top of the comforters. The internet was out the ENTIRE time we were at the house and we had to deal with the cable/internet company for several hours on several different occasions, rather than the property management company taking care of it for us. They told us repeatedly that someone was going to talk to the owner about getting us a partial refund, but it just felt like they were putting us off. Ultimately they never got back to us about the partial refund. They did repair several broken cabinets and slow draining drains during out stay.

Charming Beach House Getaway!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Sand Castle was a superlative home for our family holiday week! We particularly enjoyed the walking-distance proximity to Fort Macon State Park and the home's carefully chosen beach decor. Each room was uniquely decorated: we named the rooms for fun, such as "Monkey's Paw" and "Little Mermaids." This is a very spacious 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath home and we certainly plan to return for a future family getaway! Cannon & Gruber was also great to deal with as the realty company handling the transactions.

Wedding Weekend!

I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our wedding weekend!!! We loved the house! We love the rental company and their staff. However, our stay was a little inconvenienced. When I did a visit before renting I had noticed the old soiled linens were still there. Also the housekeeping was spotty. I made a call to the rental company to see if the linen company could come back out to pick them up. The kids and a few adults had to step over the linen pile the whole stay. Not to mention the ones downstairs were discolored for whatever reason. Overall the house and our stay in the house was perfect.
