"From the moment we arrived, this luxury hotel exceeded every expectation. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking — surrounded by peaceful nature and stunning views that instantly made us feel relaxed and refreshed. Our room featured a private onsen, which was one of the highlights of the stay. Soaking in the warm water while enjoying the quiet atmosphere was truly unforgettable. The dining experience was exceptional. The Michelin-starred dinner was beautifully presented and every dish was crafted with incredible attention to detail and flavor. Breakfast was equally impressive, with a wonderful selection of fresh and high-quality ingredients. What made this stay even more special was the tranquility of the hotel. It was so quiet and peaceful that I had one of the best sleeps I’ve had in a very long time. The entire experience felt deeply relaxing and rejuvenating. The staff were extremely polite, respectful, and attentive throughout our stay. Their hospitality made us feel genuinely welcomed and cared for at every moment. Overall, it was a wonderful experience from beginning to end. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for luxury, relaxation, exceptional food, and unforgettable hospitality. We cannot wait to return."

"The property is pretty remote. Make sure you time your Shinkansen with the hotel shuttles of your can find yourself waiting a long time. We took a taxi to the hotel which was 7200Y. Loved the public onsen and the private onsen. Breakfast and Dinner were not great for the price you are paying so we opted to eat off property instead"

"I felt completely at ease from the moment I arrived, as I was treated with the utmost courtesy. The restaurants and bars were elegant yet welcoming, and with many international staff members working at reception, the bell desk and in the restaurants, language barriers are unlikely to be an issue. It seemed that over half the guests were from overseas, and I imagine they thoroughly enjoyed their stay as well. I had stayed here before the major refurbishment, and at the time my impression was simply that it was rather old (though I assumed that was to be expected of a classic hotel). This time, however, the historic building has been beautifully preserved, with meticulous maintenance ensuring it is spotlessly clean. Furthermore, the antique furniture appears to have had its cushions and upholstery reupholstered, making it both visually appealing and comfortable. The hot spring facilities were spacious and comfortable, complete with a sauna and a cold plunge bathtub; I was surprised to find that the hot spring water was even piped directly into the bathroom in my room. I would certainly like to stay here again."

"Great location, easy flat walk from both Gora and Chokokunomori stations. Great amenities with complementary drinks, snacks and other things. Lovely shared spaces to enjoy and the room size was large by Japan's standards. The hotel is older and this shows a little in some areas but very clean and overall it was a very comfortable stay."

"Suisen was our #1 favorite stay during our 11-night trip in Japan. We spent 2 nights but wished for more. With a dozen rooms, it feels like a cozy B&B run by friends who’ve put thought into everything. The rooms/amenities are very clean, breakfasts simple (with delicious bread), and nighttime snacks prepared with care. Staff dress in black branded tshirts and know your faces, hospitality is next level from orientation to checkout, and you can tell the lounge areas have been curated with someone’s personal touch and artful preferences. The single outdoor onsen (for each gender) is great, but we loved the indoor one even more, especially since the windows open. Suisen was the perfect tatami stay after long days exploring Hakone navigating crowds and surfing on buses “meandering” through the mountain roads. Compare Suisen to another natural onsen we stayed at later. With 450+ rooms, the other place was run like a resort/cruise ship operation. You’re one family in a sea of others, compete for massage chairs/showers, and wait in line to eat. The staff are dressed in fuller uniforms and run around serving all guests. But you get complete breakfast buffets and more baths, pools, and lockers. Along the loop, there are clusters of these resorts; the buses stop right at them. But for Suisen, you have to walk what many would consider to be a narrower-than-average sidewalk. Suisen is more tucked away. It depends on the vibe you want. For us, Suisen was our perfect Mt. Fuji getaway!"
