Hilton Garden Inn Dana Point Doheny Beach

"Everything was pretty good. We stayed there for a night and had no problems, except that the bed sheets seemed too small for the King Bed we were sleeping on. There were no spare sheets, and after getting up, the sheets would already crumble into a ball."

"There’s no traditional breakfast just muffins, coffee, tea, and breakfast bars. Free waters at the front which I appreciated. Nice staff, but outdated rooms. Live music at the street level restaurant was nice, but not a good menu if you want an actual meal. Rooftop bar was the selling point for us but had bad music, with mediocre food and slow service. Good location, but won’t be returning as I like a more modern stay."

Ayres Hotel Costa Mesa/Newport Beach

"Love this property and have stayed many times. Seemed like the best bang for you buck in the area. But they now charge $24 a night for parking. (Sigh)"

Capri Laguna on the Beach

"The location is great! And they have free parking, which is awesome. The place itself is old and could use an upgrade, but for one night it was ok. Standard room was tiny, and thats ok. You can hear the busy PCH which is right there"

Newport Beach Marriott Bayview

"Average hotel , a little dated. Big room and patio, although no patio furniture water in room was $9 per bottle!"

"My daughter and I traveled to the area for a special girls’ overnight trip. While the location for the hotel had great proximity to the beach and the Balboa area and the breakfast staff were so sweet, the upkeep and cleanliness of the hotel were not what I was hoping for. There were stains on the curtains, the floor mat in the bath, the shower curtain, and the window curtains. And there was debris on the room floor from the last guests. And then worst of all we had ANTS in our room. They were sporadic, but, then on the final morning we had thrown a leftover pizza box in the trash and when we woke up there was a whole ant village in there. I notified the front desk about the ants and they noted it, but, we didn’t have an “I apologize” or anything. We also had an outdated TV that didn’t have a TV guide to see what was showing. Additionally, we were excited on the website that there was a pool and hot tub, but, it’s a small area right by the parking lot with a small fence between the cars and pool area, so we didn’t use it."

Casa Loma Beach Hotel (formerly The Inn at Laguna Beach)

"Loved the pool and the hot tub. The room was spacious and comfortable. The restaurant set delivered drinks and snacks to the beautiful terrace and that was great"

Dana Point Marina Inn

"We loved the location and the staff was accommodating. The pool was small but clean and the kids enjoyed that. The room was a disappointment since the building is pretty old. The beds were comfortable, but that was the highlight. The bathroom looked old and looked as if they had put caulking over areas of mold or something. Also, it had a pedestal sink and just a small shelf above the toilet, so three girls trying to do hair and makeup was a challenge. Absolutely no counter space in the bathroom. Also, they have a fridge but no microwave. Breakfast was ok but the only hot item was the waffles. Hotel desperately needs updating."
