"A beautiful situation surrounded by fields with cattle gently roaming around, so perfect if you are looking for a bit of peace and quiet. You will need a car given given it's remote location, but that said it is only a short drive into Kelso with the Helix Park and Waterwheel both must see attractions, and a bit further away Stirling Castle.The property is all on ground floor level attached to the farm house and is well suited to a couple or a couple with young children as there are bunk beds in the second bedroom."

"We had a fantastic few days at Shieldhill Farmhouse with our extended family. Everything was clean and tidy and we all felt at home the minute we walked through the door. There were lots of little extra things such as toys for the children, recommendations for restaurants and takeaways, and goodies on arrival which were lovely. It's a big open farmhouse, and Scotland isn't known for it's tropical weather so we were a little chilly (even in August!) but we just popped a jumper and slippers on and got on with it! I'd imagine with a roaring fire in the winter it's really cosy. It was a great base for discovering Falkirk and Edinburgh, and we had a great time. If we all organise ourselves to meet up again in future, we'll certainly be back!"

"The Snug is in an excellent location for exploring the local area, The Kelpies and Falkirk wheel were the highlight. Edinburgh offers easy access via the train at Blackridge train station, free parking and cost Â£27 for a couple via an off peak return ticket. The hosts at The Snug, Allison and Graeme are really friendly and offer lots of practical advice on places to visit and eat and are always on hand if you need help or advice. All in all a great stay and highly recommended."

"Had a fabulous stay. The lodge is excellent - it is new (visited Sept 2024) everything is new and high quality including the furniture and beds. The bath is fabulous. The hot tub is amazing as is the view from it. Loved seeing the lights over the water and sheep in the next field. Robes and slippers were a bonus. Good lighting for getting back inside when using the hot tub at night. Garden was enclosed which is great for our doggie.The hosts left a generous welcome hamper for us and have put a lot of effort and thought into making sure we had a lovely stay. There were many thoughtful extras that you donâ€™t get everywhere. Pans were high quality and hob and oven were easy to use. Great location - just 10 mins from Falkirk. 50 minutes or so to Glasgow and Edinburgh. But be sure to check your vehicle for the low emission zones in the cities as you could find yourself with a Â£30 penalty. Two lodges on the hosts property (one awaiting completion) but you have full privacy and feel like youâ€™re in the middle of nowhere while still in easy distance for takeaways. Good WiFi for streaming."
