About this property
Stroll to Pearl Street from Large, Stunning Historic Home With Private Yard
This 1901 Victorian home was beautifully and lovingly remodeled with family and social time in mind, combining an open floorplan with the old world charm of exposed brick, original wood floors and the historical character of the house. The location is exceptional, just 4 blocks from Pearl Street and a 10-minute stroll from vibrant heart of downtown Boulder and Pearl Street shops, restaurants and coffee shops, a 10-minute walk to CU, and a 10-minute walk to mountain trials and hiking.
The house has a warm and inviting feeling throughout, fantastic lighting, 10 foot ceilings on the main floor, and vaulted ceilings upstairs. The main floor was designed for time together, with a kitchen that is open to the dining room, living room, and a breakfast nook. A family room is slightly set apart and offers an HD television and family board games. The spacious backyard features seasonal raspberries and apples, a large patio for outdoor meals, a gas grill, and sky chairs hung from apple trees. The covered front porch is a relaxing spot to sip a morning coffee or a cool drink in the afternoon. Hardwood floors, soapstone counters, handmade quilts and original artwork are throughout the house.
The house is perfect for those who want family and social time—but also those who are traveling together but want a bit more privacy. The upstairs floor has three bedrooms and two full baths. The upstairs master suite includes a king bed, a walk-in closet, and a very spacious tiled master bathroom with dual sinks, a glassed in stand-up shower for two people, and a separate soaking tub. A gas fireplace connects the master bedroom and master bathroom. The sunny second upstairs bedroom has a queen bed and a balcony with French doors that open to views of the Flatirons, as well as a desk for those who would like a place to work. The third upstairs bedroom also has a queen bed and vaulted ceilings. A whole-house evaporative cooler brings fresh, cool air to each of the three upstairs bedrooms on warmer evenings.
The included carpeted and sunny basement/lower level features 9’ ceilings and, in addition to simply providing additional space, is a great feature for guests such as two couples traveling together who value social time but also privacy. The basement features a large second family room with a sectional sofa and separate television, toys for children, and a treadmill for those rare rainy days; a bedroom with a queen bed; and bathroom with a tiled, walk-in shower.
Enjoy the historic homes, beautiful gardens, and large shade trees of the Whittier neighborhood. Our guest book includes practical information such as the nearest grocery store, plus fun things to do like trail maps, a public pool two blocks away, yoga studios, and directions to the beach at the Boulder Reservoir, to cool down the kids on hot days.
A Pack & Play (which can be used as a crib or set up with a baby bassinet) and high chair seat can be provided on request. Due to allergies, non-shedding dogs only may be considered but are subject to negotiation and may incur extra fees.
Other things to note:
* As our reviews and ratings show, our home is professionally cleaned and well-maintained, and we do our best to resolve any issues quickly. That said, minor things like a slow drain, squirrel-chewed Internet cable outage, or other maintenance quirks can occasionally happen. * We’ve got professional mini-split AC systems on the main floor and upstairs, and they usually keep things nice and cool. If one ever goes down (rare, but possible), we’ll provide portable units to keep you comfortable. * This is Colorado, where nature likes to say hello. In addition to the squirrels and raccoons, you might spot the occasional pest like a spider, centipede, or box elder bug. * The neighborhood is generally peaceful, but occasionally you might hear a barking dog or backyard gathering, earplugs are a good idea if you're sensitive to sound.
We're just a message away if you need anything. Thanks in advance for rolling with the little quirks that come with life in Boulder.

This home is even better in person, very spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and there is ample areas to relax and spread out. The ability to walk to Pearl Street makes it a win win for all.
My 3 sons and I stayed here for a quick 2 days and could not have been any happier with how clean and well appointed the home was. It was just perfect in all respects. I cannot wait to come back some day.
Beautiful, well-equipped, comfortable house and garden on a quiet street in the heart of Boulder. The hosts were extremely accommodating and communicative. A perfect urban retreat.
My family and I rented this home for our family reunion and we could not have been happier with the accommodations. The house is both beautiful and extremely comfortable. The location is also wonderful! We walked to church and shopping while having driving access to the best restaurants in Boulder. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!
We stayed at this wonderful house with 3 couples to watch a game at the University of Colorado. The house was spacious, plenty of room for everyone to sleep. The hosts were great communicators. The location is perfect for walking to Pearl Street. The neighborhood is beautiful with all of the historic homes. I would definitely stay here again!
We loved this quaint house which was walking distance to downtown Boulder. It was a perfect place for five retired teachers to hang out. With four bedrooms and three and a half baths, there was plenty of room. Everything was user friendly and the host provided excellent instructions and sightseeing tips.
We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this property. Excellent home, excellent location. Could not have been more perfect. We were a combined group, visiting our students at CU Boulder for Family Weekend. We hosted a BBQ in the backyard on Friday night. We did lots of walks together including several easy strolls to Pearl street. You will not be disappointed if you stay here!
My family booked this wonderful house for 5 nights. We cooked 4 of the evenings. The kitchen has everything, including spices and oil, which was so nice. The location is perfect, 2 blocks from Pearl Street. The beds were very comfortable and the big family table hosted many evenings of games. Would rent this beautiful house again!
Multiple generations relaxed in this spacious home. Ready access to hiking or shopping. Clean, quiet and well maintained. Easy walk to restaurants. Meals at the house were enjoyable. Parking in front of home. Well kept neighborhood.
It was a bittersweet time for us as we were moving our son home after 5 years in beautiful Boulder. As excited as we are to have him home after college, we loved visiting Boulder as often as possible. My parents, son and I made the road trip from central Texas to a most welcoming, comfortable, spacious home in central Boulder. The kitchen was awesome - well-stocked, spacious and simply lovely - we spent a lot of time gathering around the kitchen bar area. The beds and bedding were perfect as was the great location. The backyard was so inviting, with colorful flowers and fruit trees throughout. We hope to get back to Boulder sometime in the future and when we do, we'd love to reserve the Mapleton home again!
Only the second time we stayed in a VRBO house so I don't have a lot of experience with what to expect from them. This was a nice stay in a clean house in a quiet neighborhood. The only note I would have is that five of the seven people staying were in their early eighties. A handrail on the stairs leading up to the porch would have been most helpful. Also, there were two remotes for the TVs. It would have been nice to have information on the operation of the remotes. Neither of these detracted from our stay however.
The home was beautiful with a great location. Very clean and had eveything we needed. Hosts were great and very available to help us in any way that we needed. Look forward to visiting again. Highly recommended!
Prompt and easy communication with Host. House is so convenient to walk to Pearl for restaurants, etc. very clean and well stocked. It worked well for our family and we will definitely stay again.
The house is exactly as described. All rooms were furnished very well and the overall layout is very conducive to both group activities but also provides some space for individual retreat when/if needed. Easy walk to downtown Boulder and even outlying grocery stores. Overall, our group of six adults truly enjoyed our stay!
The location and house were great for spending time with our kids and enjoying the many activities in the area. We will definitely stay there again in the future.
Wonderful Stay – Highly Recommend! The house was spotless, well-appointed, and extremely comfortable. The beds were excellent, and there was plenty of space for everyone to relax. It’s located just a short walk from great dining and shopping options—super convenient! Communication with the host was outstanding—very responsive and helpful throughout our stay. We would absolutely stay here again!
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful home. The location was perfect to downtown Boulder, the neighborhood was quiet, the home was spectacular, and communication with the owners was fast and efficient. Highly recommend!
Wonderful family gathering home, perfect for our family. Had plenty of private and gathering space for our family of 8. Located in a quiet neighborhood with Pearl Street and hiking close by. Host immediately responded to our minimal questions. Totally enjoyable !
This home is spacious yet cozy. Great neighborhood. The kitchen is open and lovely. The home owners were easy to communicate with and prompt to reply with our inquiries. We had a great stay and hope stay at this property in the future!
This house, yard and neighborhood fit our family perfectly -room to spread out and then gather together. My granddaughter loved picking the ripe raspberries, enjoyable family walks, great yard for our 2 dogs and fun kitchen for us all to cook in- simply perfect.
The House was clean and comfortable and more than we could have hoped for, plenty of bath towels and kitchen was stocked very well with any dishes, pots, or cooking utensil u could imagine. The location was great so u can walk to everything & the host was very responsive to any questions during our stay. The home and boulder is very dog friendly, the pups sure enjoyed the fenced backyard! If we could have, we would have loved to stay another week!!!
I can’t say enough about this Boulder home. We immediately felt welcomed into what is obviously a well loved and cared for property. It offered grand space for our family gathering as a well stocked kitchen for our family meals. It’s proximity to Pearl St. gave us an opportunity to explore the farmers market, an art show , some shopping and some great eateries ( highly recommend Steakhouse 316). I can’t say enough about our hosts, who always offered assistance and who made accommodations with our flight schedules in and out of town. If available on our next visit, we would love to revisit. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful home. The home has great character and many areas for sitting and relaxing inside and out. Its location was excellent, an easy walk or drive to downtown Boulder for coffee or food. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook meals and more. The bedrooms were very comfortable. The only hitch was there is no air conditioner, and the swamp cooler was not working sufficiently to deal with the 90 degree days.
