This is not a negative review, this hotel is exceptionally good value, considering its location. And it has some period charm, with some Art Deco features left intact. It could be spruced up to be a very nice boutique hotel indeed. But, as it is, it's a no-frills crash pad that is very centrally located. Staff were very helpful.
As others have commented, there is no lift, so it isn't suitable for wheelchair users.

The room was clean and cleaned everyday while we stayed hotel staff nice and polite
We really enjoyed our stay at the Abberdeen hotel which is in an ideal location near the main shopping area and a 5 minute walk from La Brouckere Metro station but also in a quiet side street.
We were greeted warmly by the receptionist who was more than happy to help and advise about the local area. We found the lobby area clean and comfortable while we waited for check-in. Our room was clean and tidy with crisp fresh linen and towels and toiletries.
It is an old and very traditional style building and the spiral staircase would not suit everyone but we were able to negotiate it safely with and without cases and loved our room with skylights.
We stayed for 2 nights - the bed was very comfortable and we slept really well. The ensuite is very compact but the shower was lovely - hot and powerful and very welcome. We loved our time in Brussels and this hotel was perfect for us. We would happily return while we are still mobile enough to negotiate the stairs.

Satisfied. Don't have high expectations
Back street, simple hotel lobby 1970s, friendly one-man check-in, desk open til 11pm, close to old town 15-20 minute walk, convenience store 5 minutes, stairs only, no a/c, fans provided, weak wifi in 3rd floor,

Disliked: Amenities
This is more like a hostel than a hotel, with bunk beds for the whole family and communal toilets and a shower for the whole floor. Luckily, each room at least had its own sink so we could brush and wash our hands.
Stairs were steep, narrow, and curved, thus inaccessible for anyone needing wider accommodations.
Immersive location in the Red Light District and down the street from the main train station.

Not bad overall.
Location is good. Close to the main shopping high streets and a few bars and restaurants. It is pretty noisy. Especially of a night so maybe reconsider if you’re a light sleeper.
Bathroom could do with a make over and a few fittings in the bedroom need repairing.
The flooring by the bed needs to be fixed too
Staff friendly and helpful.
Bed a bit hard if you’re used to a softer mattress.
Overall. Not bad for the price. But needs some TLC.
The stars are mostly for the friendly staff and good location, in terms of the room they need to urgently change the mattress. It has a huge dip in the middle and though it's known it's a two-star hotel, the facilities need a bit of renovation. Like some shelves in the bathroom to put your toiletries.

Hotel Abberdeen was an average stay hotel. I can fully give a huge shout out to the staff the night we checked in, as she was so accomodating and helped us to get settled into 2 rooms, even though Expedia's confirmation did not go through.
We had a wonderful stay at the Hotel. It is in the middle of all the action! We will definitely stay here again!

The room is what you could expect for the price. However, the location of this hotel makes up for everything else! We were so close to everything, and it made our trip 10x easier and accessible.
As long as you have some shower shoes, this hotel is the one for you.
the lady at the front desk was lovely and so helpful. however, the corridors and our bathroom smelt of sewage and the shower was very poor, with cold water coming out of both heads with no pressure at all as well as no protection for the floor so the bathroom would flood every time you showered. there was also a light coming through the bathroom window that you couldn’t block so it shone into the bedroom all night, and on the second morning there was a loud building alarm which woke us up
Communication was good prior to arrival.
Pluses:
- great location, quick access to Metro, lots of shops/restaurants in the area
- secured desk/front door
- lobby looks like photos
- considering the location, it’s very quiet and I slept multiple nights with the window open
- bed was comfortable and extra blanket in end of the bed came in handy
- hot water in shower
- luggage storage
- when I had questions, staff was attentive and responded positively
Deltas:
- building feels old, carpet on stairs is very old
- pictures shared don’t well represent the room with the double bed and were clearly taken with a .5 lens as the room is very small (hard to get around end of bed and to the window)
- bathroom sink was minuscule (if you wash your face in it, you will get water all over the floor because it’s so small)
All in all, this was one of the cheapest places I could find in the central area of Brussels. It met my needs as I don’t spend much time in the hotel room. For the price, I’d stay here again. It was quiet and that’s huge in a key area.
