About this property
Foxfire Tent
★ Two private king suites in a safari tent, for two couples or the family.
Foxfire is a canvas safari tent at Elk Hollow, set on a big wraparound deck in the trees. It's built for two couples or a family who want two real bedrooms and two full baths instead of sharing a space. Quiet, private, and surrounded by birdsong, with the odd deer or turkey passing through.
This is glamping, not camping. The walls are canvas, but the comforts aren't: two spa-style baths, a full kitchen, heat and AC, WiFi, three TVs, and keyless entry. You'll fall asleep to the forest through screened windows, which is the point.
🛋️ INSIDE ➝ Open living area with a leather couch, easy chairs, and a Smart TV ➝ Full kitchen: red cabinets, granite, stainless, dishwasher, stocked with cookware and dinnerware ➝ Teak dining for four, plus a high-top table, and a second dining set out on the deck ➝ Board games, WiFi, three smart TVs, and a dedicated workspace in each suite
🛏️ WHERE YOU'LL SLEEP ➝ Suite 1: rustic barnwood king, private ensuite with a walk-in rainfall shower, Smart TV, workspace ➝ Suite 2: Amish hand-crafted log king, private ensuite with a soaking tub and rainfall shower, Smart TV, workspace ➝ One suite has its own back door, handy for an early riser slipping out for coffee ★ Guests say the beds are some of the most comfortable they've slept in
🌲 OUTSIDE ➝ Large wraparound deck with seating and a teak dining table ➝ Private hot tub with mountain views, open year-round ➝ Fire pit for s'mores under the stars ➝ Gas grill for sunrise coffee or long dinners under the trees ➝ String lights overhead after dark
♥ WHO IT'S FOR Two couples, a double-date weekend, or a family with older kids who want two private bedrooms and two baths. Multigenerational trips work well here. It's quiet by design, so it's a getaway, not a party house.
🚗 GETTING HERE The access road is steep gravel, so we recommend AWD or 4WD, especially in rain, and arriving before dark on your first trip. From parking, it's a set of trail-like steps up to the main deck, about 25, with another 5 down to the fire pit. The climb is the trade for how private and tucked-in the tent feels. Five minutes from downtown Bryson City, right by the Deep Creek entrance to the Smokies.
➳ GOOD TO KNOW It's a canvas safari tent, so you'll hear the rain, the birds, and a bit more of the outdoors than a cabin. Two more double-suite tents, Serengeti and Swallowtail, sit within walking distance; book all three for a bigger group, and know that when they're occupied you'll hear some of your neighbours, since canvas isn't soundproof. About 25 steps to the deck. Glamping, with two spa baths, a full kitchen, and heat and AC, not roughing it, but the canvas and the steps are real and worth picturing before you book.

We absolutely loved our stay here and want to visit again! It had everything we needed and was super clean. The best part was being able to sit in the hot tub and look up at the stars at night and enjoy the peace and quiet.
Luxury glamping at its finest! This property exceeded all expectations and we had a wonderful time exploring the surrounding area. The Safari tent was meticulously clean and maintained while providing everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Couldn't have asked for a better experience!
Property is beautiful! They were doing a lot of construction, the road is very narrow so that was a little tough to get around.
Otherwise a wonderful clean place to relax?
This was my very first “glamping” experience and it didn’t disappoint. The tent was absolutely beautiful and the host was amazing. I would recommend some mosquito netting around the outside recliners to minimize bugs, but other than that the property is amazing. I will be recommending this location to friends and family
My husband and I were here for a long weekend getaway. We really enjoyed the safari tent as we have never stayed in something like this before. We didn’t have a chance to use the fire pit but we did use the hot tub which was great. The tent was very clean, and we did have a small issue with the electric lock, but the owner was very quick to reply and help us out. The only thing I would suggest to the owner would be to put some rugs down as the floor does get very cold, especially this time of year All in all everything was great and we would definitely stay here again.
We couldn’t have asked for a better weekend away celebrating our 1st anniversary. The home is so unique and offers a different escape in to the mountains. You feel as if you’re sitting in the tree tops when you’re relaxing on the outdoor recliners or enjoying the hot tub. Waking up to the sound of birds chirping and the colorful trees was exactly what we needed. The home was very clean, the kitchen had everything we needed, and despite the fact that it was a tent and the temps at night were in the 40s we were very comfortable day and night. The owner was very responsive with any questions as well! There are steps going down to the tent that would be challenging for someone with any sort of issues walking/climbing but otherwise the location and travel was perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will be back!
