My siblings and I decided to take our families and our parents on an extended Thanksgiving trip. This house was perfect for us and had everything we needed. The kids enjoyed the pool table and game room while the adults enjoyed the view and extra large kitchen. Thanks for helping us make memories!
Great property , perfect location for us. Loved the game room and the overall amenities of the house. Highly recommend. We plan to come back.
With 11 people hot water was in short supply. Didn’t feel cleaning had been there in awhile as there were a lot of spiderwebs and dead bugs. No big deal except we had little crawling babies. We would suggest a curtain in master bath/ toilet room for privacy . All small things but our 2cents worth.
Four families (8 Adults and 6 Children 7-16 years) stayed 5 nights and thoroughly enjoyed the property. We really appreciated the game room, boat dock, huge decks, and fire pit. Plus thanks to the homeowner-the availabilty of the multiple grills, fishing equipment and supplies, and swimming rafts(large one needs repair), and life jackets made the trip the best ever.
Also being close to Camdenton and Lake of Ozark area added to the trip pleasures as we went golfing and a restauranting one day.
PS:
Lastly we were concerned the water would be too cold to swim and rainy weather forecasts for early June could be a bummer. Turned out the inlet water was plenty warm to swim for hours. And ignore the weatherman. The rain and cooler evenings came and went without interrupting our Fun.
Great house layout and location for boating and enjoying the lake. Needs maintenance
The house is beautiful and has all the amenities. Unfortunately some of the appliances were broken. The grill needed repair & cleaned. The coffee maker was missing the lid to the carafe so it wouldn’t brew correctly. The Viking range was filthy and the temp control for the griddle didn’t work properly. We cleaned the windows we could reach to better appreciate the view and hosed down and scrubbed the deck from the tree debris and spider webs. Don’t get me wrong we had a great vacation here and would go back. I believe the house just needs maintained better.
There were plenty of rooms and beds for our party of 12! The little kids (and some of the adults!) thought the arcade games were great! The large living area in the main floor accommodated our whole group.
A couple of difficulties:
The ice maker in the fridge didn’t work and the countertop one was pretty useless!
The shower in the master bath needs an instruction manual! We couldn’t get comfortable water for showering: too hot or too cold!
We should have gotten some kind of warning that the stove was not working!
There was a cupboard door, above the stove, that was not attached properly. It fell, from 10’ up, onto my foot and broke my toe.
There were no hot pads in the kitchen
There were no towels in the kitchen
There were multiple gas grills but no BBQ
The boat dock was very creamy and really bothered us!
There was construction debris (?) or supplies on the path by the dock; a dangerous situation for small kids.
There was no bedside table on one side of the Master BR bed.
Master BR tv only received cable.
ALL TVs should be Smart TVs.
My family and grandkids had a blast playing on the water and staying in this beautiful house. I would highly recommend this house to anyone with a large family as it slept all 14 of us very comfortably.
This property has it all…boat storage, entertainment, space, amenities, you name it! We loved it…great place to stay during the Shootout. Will definitely visit again! Thank you!
We loved our stay! This house was spacious for our annual trip to the lake. The kids loved the arcade games and adults enjoyed the pool table. It was the perfect cove.
Enjoyed our stay- as other guests have said, pics don't do the large and beautiful deck justice. The house is situated right off the main channel in a cover perfect for swimming off the dock and the house was clean and perfect for what we needed. One of the ovens still appeared not to work, but the deck and outside area were clean and we had no issues with water pressure per some of the other comments. Would suggest bringing coolers if you have a bigger group as the fridge was not huge for multiple peeople/families.
We rented this home to celebrate my in-laws 50th wedding anniversary. We had our entire family, ages 9 months to 68 years stay for a week. The house is located on a quiet part of the lake which was great for boating and jet skiing. If you want a lot of dining options nearby, this wouldn’t be a good spot for you. The deck is great and was the main gathering spot for our family. The kitchen is large and great for cooking meals for a large group. We did have issues with the range oven not heating properly so we used the electric oven. There is only one fridge on the property and it is a standard size side by side. We were glad we brought two large Yeti coolers to help store food and drinks.
The master suite in the home in huge and very nice. However, it has two very large cutouts in the vaulted wall exposing all of the sounds going in and coming out. I can’t for the life of me figure out why you would build a house like that. The kids bunk room has no curtains so they wake up at the break of dawn. Once they are awake, there is no chance for sleeping in the master suite.
There are 3 queen sized bedrooms down one hallway that all share a bathroom. We had issues with the toilet in that bathroom and the shower was almost completely clogged, even after using liquid plumber. The water pressure throughout the home was an issue as well. It was very low and at times in the shower, it would just completely turn off. After waiting for about 5 minutes with a head full of shampoo, it would come back on to a trickle. This also caused issues with the washing machine not being able to complete a cycle.
One of the 3 queen bedrooms smelled so strongly of urine, we put an air freshener over a fan to mask the smell.
The outside of the house had so many bugs and spiders. This is to be expected until you look under the eves of the house and see nothing but spider sacks. There are spider webs and sacks all around the house and deck, clearly not treated or cleaned regularly. You can look to either of the neighbors homes to see that they keep up their property. The lawn hadn’t been mowed for quiet some time either.
Overall, we would definitely not return to this home for the money we spent. We stay in VRBO’s regularly and this one left us disappointed for the money.
We spent 11 nights at Hook Lane. First let me say the pictures do not do the amazing deck justice. As others have said there were ants and spiders on the deck but that is to be expected. The dock served as a great swimming platform. We spent a majority of time in the water near our dock. We rented a boat one day and access to the dock was very easy. The kitchen is very large with ample storage and is stocked well. The range is gas and has a gas oven and There is also an electric oven. The gas oven did not reach correct temperature so we opted to use electric oven. There are several appliances in the home including coffee maker, ninja blender, crock pot, toaster and countertop ice maker. The host provided sample size soaps and shampoos and hand soaps for bathrooms. There were also Kitchen supplies left there from former guests so I suggest you take a look before purchasing. Major thing to note is that if you like to sleep in, the master bedroom is not for you. The upper picture windows are wide open and the room was fully sunlight at 5:30 am. There are also big cutouts in the upper part of the wall that are open to the house that lets in all noise of the house and cuts down on the privacy for the master. The kids bunk room would also be improved by adding some blackout curtains. The internet was extremely slow as others have noted. Water pressure was spotty, we even had instances of taking a shower and the water went out completely. To much disappointment the hot tub was in poor working condition and was only “working” for 2 of the 11 nights that we stayed. It is obviously old and the jets are not all working and some controls are completely broken. I would highly suggest that it be replaced with a new one to be considered as an amenity. There is a very large two car garage available for parking and an additional 2-3 cars could park in driveway. Walmart is about a 10 minute drive away which is very convenient. Other than the things noted above I would also add that a slide on the dock would be a nice addition (several nearby homes had them) and a paddle boat or float toys would be great. Overall this is a nice property for large gatherings, the children/teens were well entertained and we had plenty of space to gather. The fire pits were great for nightly gatherings.
What an amazing weekend! This home
Is absolutely beautiful...the pictures listed are nice but it doesn’t show how beautiful this place really is. The lake
views from the house were breathtaking.
Great house! Very good experience overall. Large family area inside the house with plenty to do. Great outside spaces. Especially loved the decks, hot tub and fire pit.
We had to hose and sweep the tree acorns (?) off the decks so we could walk with bare feet. Had to spray and broom off the spiders/spider nests from the outdoor furniture on our arrival so we could use it. All could use periodic power washing and treatment for spiders. Several in our party received bites.
Things that could be improved: Slow internet connection is an understatement. Not enough good dishes, good pots or pans. Not enough dish towels or laundry detergent. No hand soap. Second refrigerator would be a plus.
We would rent again but would ask that everything be power washed outside before our arrival.
