About this property
Stunning uninterrupted moorland views over lake and Rough Tor
Mabel's Cottage offers a delightful rural retreat located on the edge of the moors and yet is only a few miles from the beautiful North Cornish coastline. The well known Port Isaac, Tintagel and Boscastle are all close by, along with the beautiful beach at Trebarwith Strand, and wonderful walks such as the Camel trail and St Necten's Glen to name but a few! Climb the Tor, meet the local sheep, cows, chickens and ponies, listen to the birdsong. We have swallows nesting in the summer and the famous starling murmurations fly overhead twice a day from mid October until early spring. A real sight to behold.

A lovely cottage in a tranquil location. I would definitely recommend this cottage if you want a chilled relaxing break, we were fortunate enough to have a few clear nights to watch the stars and see shooting stars. The views across the water looking up onto Rough Tor are lovely, we managed to see the sunrise one morning. It was easy to reach sightseeing areas as well. The hosts are very friendly and knowledgeable of the area recommending places to eat and the homemade scones and jam and cream was a lovely thought.
We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful lakeside cottage. Wendy and John were fantastic hosts, friendly, welcoming, and incredibly accommodating throughout our visit. The garden and sun room were especially lovely, providing a peaceful and tranquil space to relax and enjoy the surroundings. The location by the lake made for a perfect countryside retreat, and we would happily stay again. Highly recommended!
Lovely cottage with spectacular views.Cottage is very clean and has everything you need. Wendy and John are excellent hosts.Lots of places to visit in the local area
Mabel Cottage is delightful. Cosy and beautifully clean with gorgeous views of Rough Tor and the lake. Wendy and John were great hosts and very responsive to our queries. Thoroughly recommend
The hosts Wendy & John are very friendly and helpful, whilst also respecting your privacy. The property is the cleanest property we have ever stayed in. The views of the lake and surrounding areas from Mabel’s Cottage are breathtaking. You feel the peace and tranquility as soon as you arrive The property is very well equipped with everything you need for your stay along with delicious scones upon arrival baked by Wendy. We stayed for 9 nights and were sad to leave, Mabel’s Cottage had become a home away from home.
Cannot recommend this place enough. If you're hesitating on booking - just do it! The location is incredible, the place is impeccably cleaned, and Wendy and John are the perfect hosts.
We spent a wonderful week in John and Wendy's lovely cottage. Our - already high - expectations have even been exceeded. The place was very well equipped and immaculately clean. The interior and decorations have been chosen with great taste. The location is simply amazing, superb views and a quiet surrounding, only interrupted by chirping birds.John and Wendy, who had even provided cream tea on our arrival, were always happy to give helpful information, if asked for it.In fact, we felt so comfortable, that we didn't mind the least bit not to leave the cottage for two days due to bad weather. We'll definitely return and stay longer that time.
Super holiday home for two set in a stunning location. Very well equipped and spotlessly clean. Owners on site very informative and made you feel very welcome.

Wonderful location with great views exactly as described.
Great cottage, very comfortable with everything provided that was needed.
Lovely owners who welcomed us personally, provided a cream tea on arrival and then lit the fire pit for us to sit outside one evening.
We would love to return!
Perfect for two people, cottage finished to a high standard and very clean. Location is amazing, private with fantastic unspoilt views from the conservatory, which we were informed is being extended for next year.
Lots of places to visit and eat out within easy reach should you want to, or just stay in and enjoy the peace and quiet and relax.
We would definitely stay here again, thank you John & Wendy for our week.
We had a wonderful stay at Mabel’s cottage. John and Wendy were great hosts, very easy check in and then left us to enjoy our stay, but we’re on hand if we needed it. The cottage is really comfortable with amazing outdoor space and views over the tor. We only wish we had stayed longer. We will be back!
My partner and I had a lovely stay here.
The hosts John and Wendy were friendly and from the start were very helpful.
The cottage is very clean and has everything you could want for a great stay.
The views are stunning at the rear overlooking a lovely lake and it's very peaceful.
We will definitely be coming back!
Mabel's Cottage is a lovely stone cottage just right for two. With stunning views (when you can see it through the rain!!! Typical bank holiday weather.) Plenty of free entertainment from the birds at the bird feeder.
Thank you John and Wendy for a great short stay.
This is a wonderful little place. Wendy and John are excellent hosts - John even let us feed their sheep. It's a little bit of an adventure down single track lanes to reach the property, but (as with much of Cornwall) the views are worth it. It's well placed for picturesque spots along the coast, as well as a walk up Rough Tor. The new sun room is beautiful and makes an ideal place to wind down, and in good weather the patio and garden space is lovely too. Thank you!
The most wonderful experience!Wendy and John were the perfect hosts and made us so very welcome.Mabel's Cottage was a pure joy to stay in, it had absolutely everything you could possibly need so cosy and comfortable with nothing but birdsong and farm animals to listen to. So tranquil to sit outside of an evening and just gaze across the lake towards Rough Tor.Perfectly situated to explore the surrounding area.It gave us the perfect holiday after a full on few days previously with our wedding.Would 100% recommend and would definitely return in the future
We had a lovely stay here. Wendy and John were very welcoming, and greeted us on arrival to show us around. The cottage itself is wonderful; thoughtfully decorated throughout with lots of luxurious little touches, and all the amenities you could need. The conservatory is a lovely place to admire the view when the weather inevitably takes a turn. Wadebridge, Padstow, Port Isaac etc. Are all in easy reach. We'd highly recommend the place to any couple looking for a peaceful break, and expect we'll be back ourselves before too long
We wish we could stay longer...
Wendy and John are very kind and welcoming. Always available to help. We especially appreciated the typical British breakfast waiting for us upon our arrival.
The cottage is freshly renovated and fully equipped. Everything is comfortable and the atmosphere is warm. We especially enjoyed the veranda and the gardens with the stunning view
We simply felt at home.
Thank you for making our holidays great despite a little rain ;)

Dream location, holiday apartment with winter garden
The holiday apartment is beautifully located - but a little out of the way. You definitely need a car. The cottage is tastefully and fully equipped. Everything you need is there and it was very clean. Wendy welcomed us with homemade scones and flowers we picked ourselves.
John and Wendy let you use their beautiful garden for
the duration of your stay, including the terrace with a view of the lake. The winter garden is a beautiful additional room.
Wendy and John are extremely friendly and accommodating. I will definitely go there again because I really liked the area. I discovered a new "place to be" for myself there.
