We loved the decor and the well appointed rooms (great towels, comfortable bed and linens). The breakfasts were very good, and the parking in the rear was fantastic.
It is a beautiful hotel, with food places and stores super close by, the rooms and hotel in general is very clean and well maintained. I wish they offered/included continental breakfast but other than that I definitely recommend staying here!
What an amazing stay! This hotel was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. The accommodations were beautiful and comfortable, the staff was friendly and welcoming, and the entire experience exceeded my expectations. I truly enjoyed every moment of my stay and would definitely return. Highly recommend this hotel for a relaxing and memorable experience!
The room was great! We were there two nights, chose not to have our room serviced, and ran out of Nespresso pods (there were only two). Did not call the desk for more. The housekeeping staff is unaware of how to assemble the Nespresso machine, so I had to put the puzzle pieces together, even though I’ve never had one. The front desk staff was amazing.
Spacious, clean and well appointed room with comfortable bedding. Nice fitness room and friendly staff. If you’re visiting South Chicago definitely book your stay here. Convenient to many local and chain restaurants, the Lakefront trail, University of Chicago, and the Obama Presidential Center.
The staff and property were great! Never enjoyed staying in a hotel this much. Everything was great, Beautiful inside, great art and the staff created a wonderful environment. Parking is a serious problem but otherwise a perfect stay.
I have already booked my next stay when I return to Chicago in a few months.
We recently stayed there on a Saturday night. The hotel and rooms are very clean and beautifully decorated. The restaurant/bar staff were quite rude, however. I did have a friend
One of the best spots close to the lake in a beautiful neighborhood! You can’t beat the deal only thing could be better is dedicated parking. But you still can find a park nearby, overall one of the best hotels south of down town and really upscale
This hotel is close to the Obama Presidential Museum, and not far from the Downtown area. The rooms are clean and modern.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
The carpet in the room was wet. The bathroom shower was clogged but the room was nice and the view was great. The morning staff at the front desk clearly had some personal issues. Her demeanor was not pleasant. morning of 20 September. (and no I did not ask or get a discount)
I tend to rate hotels by how well they treat my hyper-focused, bright daughter. This hotel suddenly became one of her favorite hotels of her entire life. The music theme means that our hotel room had a turntable with two vinyl records to play, along with a library of music that can be checked out.
The room itself was not only immaculate but well laid out, with the HVAC equipment blending into the decor like a cabinet. The beds were quite comfortable. But what impressed my daughter most were the little things. The beautiful artwork. The complimentary mocktail in the lobby. The notepad in the room that comes with a magnifying glass.
Highly, highly recommended.
I love the location, first and foremost! The atmosphere, restaurant, staff members, etc. were amazing as well. Already planning my next trip to Chicago and I will most definitely be staying at The Sophy!
Our stay at the Sophy was worth the money spent! I was thrilled to walk into a room and see no fly away hairs on my sheets. This is such a turnoff for me, but wasn’t the case at the Sophy. Not to mention that we were in walking distance to the Obama Presidential Center. This was a win, win for us. We were surrounded by restaurants, clubs and stores which didn’t require us to Uber unless we wanted to do a special outing.
My only negative would be that the carpets need shampooing and the toilet seat needs to be changed out (something that cost so little).

Liked: Staff & service
The hotel is close to a lot of restaurants.
Due to the air conditioning not working in the hotel lobby the onsite restaurant and bar were closed which was unfortunate because a large group attending a wedding chose this hotel for the bar and restaurant so we could gather together.
I loved this hotel. The things that stand out to me were the design and the excellent quality of the restaurant. The rooms had a lot of cool touches that distinguish this boutique hotel from a chain and made my stay extra fun.
