"My stay at OYO Times Square was… an experience. First challenge: calling the hotel. The number connects to an automated system that repeatedly drops the call, so if you enjoy phone tag with robots, you’re in luck. Next up: parking. It’s not included and costs $40 USD per night located about a 10-minute walk away. There’s also no loading area, so be prepared to drag your luggage through Times Square like you’re training for the Amazing Race. Our first room had a window duct taped shut and no heat, which made it feel more like a walk-in freezer than a hotel room. We were moved to another room where the window was also taped shut (apparently a theme), but at least the heat worked. The shower was a gamble every time — it alternated between scalding hot and barely warm, with almost no water pressure. Think “spa day,” but if the spa was broken. There was also a deposit surprise. I was told it would be $100 per night, but was charged $600 for a 3-night stay. I was promised the difference would be refunded after checkout, but even the day after leaving, it still hadn’t been returned and I am still yet to recieve any communications back regarding this issue. To be fair, the mattress was comfortable. Unfortunately, the pillows were flatter than a pancake and the towels were tiny and scratchy. I understand this is a budget hotel, but some basic things — working heat, functioning showers, and clear pricing — shouldn’t be luxury amenities."

"The staff were so incredibly friendly and accommodating, and the room was clean, surprisingly spacious for Manhattan, and comfortable. The location cannot be beat, and the breakfast was AMAZING. It’s also a beautiful hotel with a classy, Gatsby-like vibe. This was a wonderful stay, and I will definitely be returning!"
