"The room was very clean and modern. Breakfast was good but no fried eggs. Be careful when sitting down at breakfast as some chairs are too low for the tables. myself and the lady on the next table both sat down with a bump. The hotel is a perfect base and 5 minutes walk to bus/train station. I will definitely stay here again."

"The spa was wonderful. The rooms are clean and the staff is very kind. I believe that they want to ensure you are comfortable. But, they are working with a property in need of maintenance. Our air conditioner worked the first night, but the next day we couldn't get the temperature below 24c/75f. After two attempts to fix it, they moved us to another room, where we discovered another guests gift wine, cupcake and greeting. Not a tragedy, but not assuring either. We got our new room pleasantly cool, though the thermostat never moved from 22c/72f. And it was definitely cooler than that. 2 out of 2 room temperature controls malfunctioning. A five star hotel to me, will get the details right. I didn't leave The Gainsborough with that impression, and it certainly wasn't the relaxing few days I had hoped for."
