"The location, it's absolutely breathtaking. Nothing compares. Sitting on the deck, watching the bird feeder and seeing all the different birds swooping in, the coatis running around. The food is pretty good too but keep in mind, you'll end up having dinner here. Can't recommend driving at night if you want to eat dinner in La Fortuna. The grounds are well-kept and the trails are good. You can easily walk the whole day. Don't forget to go to the Nest for a good view. "

"Wonderful place to stay. Quiet and with an amazing pool/hot tub and long gorgeous views of the lake and volcano. It is a about 30 minutes from Fortuna so you will do a lot of driving."

"We enjoyed our time at Encantada Guest House and the ElCastillo area. If you’re looking for peace and quiet, with an extraordinary birding experience, this is it. The house is perfectly outfitted and comfortable, the grounds are gorgeous and the owner and staff are easily reached for any questions. The area is great with lots of great restaurants and friendly locals. We will most certainly be back."

"This was such a cool place! The restaurant La Ventanita has amazing pizza, burritos, and traditional foods, and is right down the hill from the studio. There are motorcycle themed decor in both the restaurant and studio, which was pretty fun. I liked that its in a small town El Castillo, but close to Arenal and Sky Adventures, and a short walk to a lovely Butterfly Conservancy. The view is absolutely amazing! It rains often in this area, and the sound of the rain on the roof is calming. We really loved staying here."

"The amazing pictures of the Hawks Nest sold me on this place to begin with. After staying here, I must say that this is one of those rare instances where pictures simply do not do this property justice. All I can say is if you are thinking about it-just stop looking and book this house. I've been all over the world and this is a top 5 stay. La Ventanita Cafe is the only place in the neighborhood you should eat. There are other options that are a hard pass. La Ventanita is amazing food, price, service, views-the whole package-Really, everything else in the neighborhood is just bad. Stock groceries in the city. Pura Vida!"
