"Parking was easy being right outside the property. A lovely lady called us to check our arrival time as we had booked an evening meal and the last order time was 8pm and she didn't want us to miss out. We had a lovely evening meal, with it being their weekly Pie night it really hit the spot after a long journey! Our room was very spacious and extremely comfortable too. There were lots breakfast options and what we both had was delicious. We will definitely return as this place is a real gem. And being centrally located for visiting family, the Yorkshire dales and the Lake District the location is perfect."

"Whilst I am sure this kind of property appeals to many, it wasn't what we were expecting. We appreciate it is a castle first, then hotel, but we have stayed in plenty of castles that still offered a very good hotel experience. Our room, apparently an upgraded one [we booked a superior kind] was small and very cold. The host promised us a heater, but it never materialised. The rooms have no TV ["because it is a castle"], but still have TV points in the room. Despite the hotels.com description, there is no spa and there is no hot tub, not that that aided our choice in the first place, but putting it out there for others; they don't exist."

"Doomsgate House is a beautiful cottage. Very close to Town. Well furnished and comfortable..Parking permit given by the Owners, who will do anything to help you.All paved at the rear and the most comfortable beds we have slept in.Thankyou to the family for making us welcome."

"Gorgeous cosy cottage. Fantastic shower. Lovely comfortable king size bed. Had everything we needed. Great communication with the host. Lovely area that we will return to. Off street parking. "

"Clean and good facilities. We didn't see another person for the whole stay! It would have been helpful to have had instructions for the appliances and the heating! We could not find a way to turn it up beyond 17° so the lounge was quite cold! It would also have been helpful if the car park was a bit closer ( on the days it poured with rain). I would still recommend it as a good place to stay, as long as you don't mind washing up."
