"Very old fashioned room desperately in need of a refurbishment and a deep clean. Would suit a couple in their 80’s as that was the decor. Breakfast was nice, but when my wife ordered poached eggs on toast she got 1 egg on 1/2 piece of toast, was pretty funny as it looked sad on the plate. Staff were lovely"

"Lovely hotel brilliantly situated in Bodensee. On a hill with views down the lake. Getting to the Lake steamers is just a walk down the lawn The staff are excellent friendly and helpful Rooms are spacious. Any negatives. The menu in the Bistro was a bit limited and breakfast range could have been more imaginative eg. fruit salad instead of a bowl of chopped melon A bit surprised to be charged £15 a night for parking. If I’m paying £200 a night B&B I would expect parking to be included! A few more comfortable chairs to sit on on the lawn would have been appreciated."

"Where do I start ! a quintessential English country hotel. The grounds were immaculately kept and I have paid good money to visit gardens not as spectacular as these. The staff were extremely friendly and couldn’t do enough for you a special shout out for Brad and for Helen in the assistance they gave us. The food in the restaurant was exceptional and although we didn’t have bar food, what we saw coming out looked extremely good. The only comment I would make is that if you were staying for a number of days the menu doesn’t change that often and is small. I can especially recommend their cooked breakfasts. There was nothing we could fault with the hotel. It’s position, it’s condition and it staff were all excellent."

"We , 4pax , stayed for 4 nights and the standard was 1st class , nothing less. Excellent and a tribute to the Leeu Collection. Will definitely want to return soon. Suggestion, parking should be possibly better controlled and available for Hotel guests first. Maybe leverage the Spa and treatment offerings on this stunning property. Thanks to the excellent , professional and friendly staff."

"The hotel was amazing with large, clean rooms and beautiful, large grounds with amazing flowers ponds and trees. The breakfast was amazing. The place has lots of history as Beatrix Potter lived there. There was plenty of parking and it is in a great location, near Windermere."

"We booked this trip and paid good money for a room with a balcony. On arrival we was told that the hotel car park was more then likely full due to the weather even though we didn't need to pre-book, not the best start. The que on reception was also extremely busy and only 1 member of staff on. We asked to reserve a table in the restaurant and was told it was full due to the weather (yes it was the best of the year so far) surely the residents should receive priority after booking, we didn't. We used the bar for drinks again this was sometimes a 20-30 minute wait and again poor from the staff with no cohesion as to who was next and waiting first, the communal areas are a little dated and shabby but this could be so much better with some TLC and staff who are much more approachable. If it wasn't for the weather this would have been one of the worst trips of 2026 for us."
