River Rock is a three bedroom, two bath cabin located in a private park-like setting on 11 beautiful acres of grassy meadows, waterfalls, and tranquil trout stream.
If you are looking for a secluded and private streamside retreat, you will not find a better location anywhere. Elk Creek, which is rated as one of the cleanest in all of North Carolina; runs right in front of this cabin. The sounds of the rushing stream can be heard throughout the property and the decks on River Rock overlook the stream and a gorgeous grassy meadow where deer and other wildlife frequently roam.
This mountain retreat offers privacy seclusion with easy access, but yet is convenient to area attractions as it is only 10 minutes off the Blue Ridge Parkway, 10 minutes to horseback riding at Leatherwood stables, 20 minutes to downtown Boone (great for ASU football weekends), 30 minutes to Blowing Rock (excellent dining and shopping) and 30-45 minutes to 4 different ski areas.
River Rock offers rustic comfort with a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher and microwave, WIFI, satellite TV, washer & dryer, propane gas and electric heaters, and all the bed linens and towels to make your stay comfortable. There is also a gorgeous stone (river rock) fireplace in the living room that creates a very warm and cozy atmosphere. The cabin has its very own fire ring (great for family marshmallow roasts-please do not use inside fireplace:), as well as access to hiking trails which lead to a beautiful 20 ft waterfall. There is also a picnic table on the property where you can sit and relax to the sounds of the stream, or have lunch in the middle of the mountains!
The privacy of this property makes it ideal for anything from a quiet honeymoon or romantic weekend to a memorable family vacation.

River Rock

Bachelor Party Stay

Great Secluded Vacation Spot

We thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing stay at River Rock. The house is cozy and the hot tub is an added bonus. Only issue was the house cleaner got our dates mixed up and showed up the morning after we checked in to clean from the previous guests. Luckily it wasn’t a mess and we just had to make up the one bed we stayed in.

Relaxing mountain getaway

We liked the location because it was close to horseback riding and not too far from Boone. We enjoyed the creek and the hiking trail. We lit the bonfire a couple of nights and the kids loved that. It was comfortable sleeping for everyone. Nice get away.

Great mountain retreat

Our family met in Boone to celebrate my wife's birthday. Wonderful place, great amenities and beautiful setting. Enjoyed the mountain stream, hiking in the woods, soaking in the hot tub, and relaxing in this great environment. The kitchen had everything you needed and there were plenty of recreational games/activities. Many of the spring wildflowers were blooming, especially the trilliums.

Bach trip stay

Beautiful scenery, and beautiful cabin. I would recommend if you want to stay by yourself. Natural walk to the waterfall, and creek. Hot tub is always a plus just would recommend some more lighting around it. I will be back for sure!

Great Outdoors!

This was the perfect place for our two families to get away! The property had so much outdoor space for us to explore. We enjoyed skipping rocks in the creek and hiking up to the waterfall. The house was cozy and had lots of family games. Downstairs was the perfect hangout spot for our preteens/teen!

The Unforgettable Vacation.

Heaven on Earth

We absolutely LOVED our stay at the rental. Feom the beginning the owners were VERY accommodating, very communative, and super healpful. We and our 4 furrbabies had the time of our lives. They loved the water and the waterfall and the hikes... we loved watching them free roam and just explore the forest, living their lives as they should..without a care in the world. The house is VWRY wrll sticked, bedrooms of grest size, plenty of beds to sleep in. Fully stocked kitchen, bathrooms and laundry room. I can not say enough about how well these owners have done to make this feel like home away from home. Highly recommended

Peace and quiet

This property is all it is described to be and then some. We enjoyed every bit of the outdoors from hiking to the top of the waterfall to tubing down the creek. Each night a bonfire brought us together to reflect on the day. Very cozy home with hundreds of movies to entertain the kids before bed. Kim and John were responsive to questions and ideas. Highly recommend!

Perfectly serene stay!!

The home is spacious and just perfect! I love it when a host has spices and seasonings for cooking in the home!! The tranquility at this location is just perfect! I loved just sitting outside and listening to the creek. We hiked up to the waterfall which was not far. We loved the hot tub in the evening with a glass of wine. Plenty of room for everyone!! The downstairs area is great for kids or adults who need a really raucous game of fooze-ball! We loved our stay and would definitely come back. !

Great Spot to Relax

Initially, we had plans to explore towns in the area (Blowing Rock and Boone). However, once we arrived at River Rock, we never left. The home is cozy, clean, and has everything you need for a relaxing vacation. We loved having coffee in the morning, and lunch in the afternoon, on the large deck while listening to the creek. We enjoyed our evening hot tub. But the property was the highlight of our vacation. There is a lot to explore without having to drive anywhere. We loved the creeks and hiking to the waterfalls. We wanted to get away from everything and relax in seclusion. River Rock delivered.

Wonderful Property and Vacation!

This was our first time visiting the mountains of NC and with it there were a lot of firsts. We walked across a swinging bridge on Grandfather mountain, we went fishing for the first at Grandfather trout farm ( no need for Fishing license there), first time endlessly enjoying a beautiful creek. This house is in a beautiful location and we throughly enjoyed our stay. The house is well stocked and very homey. The pathway to the water falls is not to be missed. You may need a walking stick for the slightly steeper portions of the walk. We really enjoyed the Wild Craft eatery restaurant in Boone and the Peddaling Pig restaurant. We would definitely come back. Thank you for a great vacation.

Amazing response to a catastrophic event

My wife and I and our two dogs and our two grown children planned a 10 day stay. The property is amazing. The locations and size was perfect for the dogs to run and for our overall relaxation. Unfortunately during our stay nature decided to pay us a visit with Hurricane Helena. John and Kim arrived on scene as soon as they could to check on us. They brought us much needed water. John quickly made repairs. Even though we had to camp it for a few days(outdoor grill is amazing) the overall experience was something we will never forget. Our hats go off to John and Kim for such a quick response to our situation.
