"We booked to stay here 2 nights in June. The day we were to arrive we got a message from the hotel to say that they were undergoing renovations and they would refund us for our breakfast charges and give us a free to-go breakfast one day. "Arrived at 8pm. Manager very rude, told me I had arrived way past check in time which was 3pm and I was lucky I arrived when I did as he was just going home. Also, I was too late if I wanted food. On checking my booking confirmation fro Expedia and The Spice Ship, booking in is until 9.30pm. Room was nice, bed very comfortable. Selection of teas, coffees and a hot chocolate which was nice. Bathroom shaving light didn't work, hot tap loose and dripping. Bathroom bin not emptied from previous guest. Edges of carpets and pictures very dusty. Corners of shower mouldy. Breakfast - water for tea luke warm, orange juice diluted. Good selection of cereals and pastries. Disliked being referred to as 'My Queen' by restaurant staff. Wouldn't stay again. "

"Friendly staff and pool looked nice which is why I booked but unfortunately did not get chance to use it as didn’t get a wink of sleep. The room was unbearably hot even with windows open and a fan on. I dread to think how bad it would be in the summer. The bath taps were stuck on hot and didn’t retain any water as the plug was not sealed properly so couldn’t have a proper shower or bath either. The toilet roll was rougher than sandpaper- genuinely have never known any like it. The rooms would really benefit from air con and a fridge. Even if you offered in some rooms at a price of an upgrade."

"A very welcome stop while walking the South West Coast Path. Room wasn't ready until about 16.00 (advised 15.00) but the staff were so friendly and welcoming, getting me a drink and genuinely apologetic for the wait. It happens - probably a full check out from the Saturday night and it was no hardship to sit in the garden in the sun. Loved the room. Very well equipped, in keeping with the location, great hot shower, loads of teas/coffees etc and the bed was amazing. Took advantage of the £12.00 offer on roasts after 17.00. Yes, no doubt not as good as would have been at lunch time but £12?! Breakfast next morning was lovely. Small Continental buffet but perfectly adequate, great coffee and nice hot offerings. Would love to go back!"

"We enjoyed a relaxing weekend at Southdown. The house is just on the edge of Lodmoor RSPB Reserve and it was lovely to walk around the Reserve in the early evening. The hot tub was really clean and the house was comfortable and really well equipped."

Cosy cottage annex near Weymouth. A slice of the village within reach of town.

"The whole place was lovely but the lighting in the bedrooms were poor. One of the rooms could of done with some kind of shelf by the sides of the bed cause we had to put drinks, phones & pills on the floor. Other than that it was a great place to stay"
