It's close to the town, which has good izakaya and other options if you're not on a meal plan. There is also a Lawson close-by. "If you want to take a step off the beaten track in Japan this is a very good option. The hotel is situated in a very good place to explore the Kyoto on Sea area (this is not Kyoto city). The Hotel will send a minibus at certain times of day to pick new visitors up from the railway station. "Property located about 15 min walk from the main Onsen strip but it provides shuttle service to the strip every half hour. Rooms are large and very nice. Most notable is their buffet dinner and breakfast is excellent with various delicacies almost comparable to high end restaurant but with so much more variety."
