Room was and clean relatively spacious, the three private spas worked well (although the hotel was not full when I stayed). Meals were delicious, dinner and breakfast, and sensible quantities. If you're thinking of an overnight here a) you should come - it is a lovely old town and b) this place has your back for a bit of onsen magic while you are here."

"Not worth it. Way over priced! We stayed one night. Staff are very nice. But the place is of a by gone era. It’s old but not in a charming way. Showers in the onsen are cold and you have to wait for many minutes in order for hot water to come out. "A really old-fashioned Japanese onsen experience like nothing else. We ate in the Japanese restaurant one night and French the other evening. The food was fantastic. Rooms were comfortable but old fashioned. I would highly recommend the room with a private onsen - we saw tanuke (Japanese raccoon dogs) approach whilst we were bathing which was a really special experience. We hiked to the ridge (5 hours return) through a beautiful forest."

"The Celecton is a nice, standard Japanese hotel. The rooms are small, but they are practical, very clean and amenities are good. If you want a hotel that is close to the Castle then this is a good one, but it is 10-15 minutes walk to the train station, restaurants, and the other attractions in Matsumoto. My room was facing the Castle but directly above a busy road, so it was quite noisy."
