  • Enjoy an amazing Duck Village Retreat. The home is a quarter-mile walk to the beach, or take the day to lounge by your private pool during finishing the day off in the evening soaking in the hot tub.

    Inside, you'll find abundant natural light, high, pine-paneled ceilings, and an open layout. Don your chefs hat and step into the well-equipped, full kitchen to whip up your favorite recipes, then serve up your culinary creations at the adjacent window-front table.

The location of the home was great and that was the only positive of this rental.Upon entering the home you were hit by the overwhelming scent of plug-ins, lots of them, which sent our allergies and asthma into a frenzy. The overall cleanliness was less than desirable, from hair on the showers, to accumulated dust on the air vents and fans, to dust on one wall in the master bedroom, to clumps of hair on the basement bathroom sink drain. Rentals at the beach may have some wear but this place locked neglected.

This is a complicated review because lightning struck the house the night before we left. It was a very traumatic experience. The lightning blew a hole in the roof and the chandelier fell from the highest ceiling point. Glass was everywhere. Luckily, we were in our bedrooms and not on the top level when this occurred otherwise it could have been very bad. We had to call 911 and the police and fire department came out. We contacted Village Realty. We had to evacuate the home and sit in our vehicles for two hours before we were cleared to go in and pick up our belongings. The man who is was our contact from the realty company placed us in another home once he heard from the fireman that it was indeed a lightning strike and not our fault. The secondary house was less expensive than the one we paid for. It also had a roach infestation. Luckily, we were there for only a few hours. They did not offer a refund on the difference between the two houses nor did they call to check on us the next day after such a terrible experience which was disappointing. We actually had a lovely time prior to this occurrence. When I reached out, the company told us it was not their fault and I stated it was not ours either. I could not believe they still wanted me to write a review. There was a weathervane and some noticeable outdoor wiring, which is not typically seen in newer houses. These things may have been instigators. Anyway, here is my review.

The property is ideal for small pets with a completely fenced area for a pet to roam. The pool is very clean and private. The A/C was very cool and the king mattress was very comfortable. We thought it might be noisy being that it was on NC-12 Duck Road but the home was very quiet. A good mix of shade and sun at the pool.The kitchen was well supplied with dishes, major/minor appliances, cookware and utensils. The sandy volleyball court in the backyard is great for those so inclined. We would definitely stay here again.

The house is filthy and outdated, the property is infested with tics!! There is a squirrel in the attic. House has a terrible smell.We left and lost a lot of money but was a huge relief to get out of this house of horror!!
