"Although our stay was fleeting (just one night) we were made to feel extremely welcome by all of the staff. The room lacked a TV, but actually this was an absolute blessing and it made change not to reach for a remote control. Instead there was a DAB radio which was playing a soothing Classic FM when we entered our rather classy country pub hotel. Everything was to a very high standard in our room. We were even welcomed with a short, signed note on quality card wishing us personally, a warm and relaxing stay, which set the tone for a wonderful stay. The bathroom had a white, classically styled bathroom suite, with high quality furnishings and a powerful rainfall mains shower. The shower screen could have been a little longer as despite trying to be careful, the beautiful grey LVT floor got a soaking! Warm towels and organic shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Our stay was extremely comfortable and despite being in a room facing the road, we weren't really bothered as the bed was comfy. I did overheat a few times in the night, despite turning the GCH radiator down earlier in the evening, but that's more a reflection on me rather than the feather down quilt. In summary, classy country feel pulled off immaculately by our warm hosts We would not hesitate to stay again and perhaps this time stay for a meal which looks sumptuous. Thank you to all."

"Positive feedback: the cottage was spotless clean, it had almost everything we needed. Plenty of room for us all and nicely decorated. Negatives: parking was difficult (esp as this was out of season). It was cold and the cottage’s heating system was just not up to the job in the living room/kitchen/bathroom, so we were all sat in many layers of clothes. There was a working log burner, but no logs (which would have made all the difference). Plus the heating kept turning itself off at what seemed random times, so we had to keep turning back on again while we were at home. Although the garden was lovely and dog secure, the steps were extremely slippery, covered in green algae. There was no inside bin for recycling. "

"From the moment we arrived we received a very warm welcome from Katherine and Andy. We were shown around and taken to our cottage which was clean and spacious. We all rode as a family on fantastic horses and with amazing instructors. Everyone was very friendly and couldn’t do enough to make us feel welcome. Andy gave us some great ideas for places to visit locally. We would definitely recommend staying here and look forward to returning."

"Quite superb Grade 1 Listed Medieval Hall House, truly exceptional, hardly a right angle, level floor or vertical wall anywhere, expertly restored. Outstandingly well-provided and comfortable. Excellent for children - every conceivable nook for hide and seek, good sized garden, lots of games provided. Faultless. Do not book if you do not appreciate history, quietude, remoteness, and if you want your life filled with modern gadgets. "
