Extremely friendly, helpful staff and exceptionally good food, both at dinner and at breakfast.
Place was a bit outdated, in need of an over haul. Looks like the bathrooms have already been done.
Staff was wonderful.
Restaurant was spectacular, I had 3 dinners there and I am still talking about how good the food was.
I would stay here again.

The staff was terrific, I think the location was pretty good, not much to choose from on the island so I would rate it high.
The hotel was close to a bus stop which for me was great as I don't drive. It was about a 15 minute walk from the centre of Lerwick and it involved walking up a few hills but it was possible to get a bus from the hotel.
The hotel its self was clean and comfortable. I ate at the hotel every evening of my stay as there was no nearby restaurants. The food was very nice but very expensive
I would recommend getting a bus to and from the airport as its so much cheaper than the taxis, which were expensive and you can catch a bus from down the road
I would recommend this hotel to anyone planning a short stay on the island
Beautiful location and attentive staff.
The shower water pressure was poor, but the water was hot.

Disliked: Amenities
The location of the hotel is great, overlooking a bay on the edge of Lerwick, but as a single traveller my view was of the car park. Despite lawns down to the shore, there is no outside space to sit, and the building's style is quite outdated and bare. I only ate in the restaurant once - it is clearly popular and the food was good. Quite a walk into town, but there are passing buses.

Food fantastic, staff super, rooms rotten ..
Rooms 20 years out-of-date, but fantastic food!
We stay in a lot of hotels, and these rooms are extremely “tired”, however the money has been well spent in the restaurant area.
The dining takes place in a smart, comfortable environment, and the food is really of a very high standard; last week I had literally the best venison that I have ever eaten, and the Chicken Balmoral and the Finnan Haddie were of a similarly high standard. The service was of the same level as the food, switch a mixture of eager, helpful youngsters and more experienced staff overseeing the operation.
So, great food, great service, lovely people … just need to spend some of the significant room rates on modernising the rooms, I think!

Another positive stay
We have stayed several times, and although the rooms are in need of some modernisation, the staff and the food are exceptional.
Breakfast is freshly cooked to order, and the evening meal service is exceptional … there really is no reason to dine anywhere else!
Overall it was very good. Staff were very nice, perhaps lacking in local knowledge. The mattress was not to my liking, to soft. The shower was a little underwhelming. Food was excellent.
Lovely hotel, big rooms very comfortable. Tables in restaurant nicely spaced out.
Staff helpful,polite, and friendly.

Our room had great view over the bay. 15 minute walk to shops and restaurants.
Bathroom disappointing as water not always hot in the evening and the toilet was too close to the wall and heated towel rail.
We were given a room which was very small, cold and had damp. The wallpaper was coming off the walls and the heater was under neath a window with curtains coming down, I was concerned it would be a fire hazard. The room was dark and required significant refurbishment and was certainly not worth the price that we paid for it. We made our concerns known to reception and they showed us three other rooms but all were just as bad. We did swap for a room which was a little warmer, but the bathroom window was a state with paint peeing off and what looked like mold, and a patched up hole in the floor of the bath tub. Overall it was a very disappointing stay.
