About this property

The Church on Tanglewood

  • Summary:

A uniquely renovated historic church in Cooper Young with all the style, history, and comfort to compliment your Memphis stay!!

Built in 1920 as Cedar Grove Baptist Church and operated under many names through the years. It has been vacant since 1986. The church has since been "saved" by Griffin Elkington who turned it in to this 4 bed/2 bath Airbnb all while saving the integrity of the outside stone facade.

Managed by Superhosts 12 years straight!!!

    The Space:

    - Open space living room, dining room, kitchen that's perfect for family gatherings.

    - 3 queen beds

    - 2 twin beds

    - Fully stocked kitchen

    - 2 full bathrooms (both shared among the 4 bedrooms)

    - 2 free parking spots in back

    Guest Access:

The whole space is yours. You'll have access to both front and back doors by digital code. Parking is in the back.

    The Neighborhood:

Make your way to the Cooper Young Neighborhood in Midtown Memphis. You’ll have arrived at a place both traditional and trendy, cosmopolitan and casual. You’ll discover boutique shopping and specialized retailers, alongside sophisticated restaurants and happy-hour hangouts. If you’re here on a Saturday, don’t miss the Cooper Young Farmer’s Market happening year round. Cooper Young is where art, culture, cuisine and commerce intersect in a fabric that weaves its way throughout this historical neighborhood, creating a lifestyle district all its own.

You are only 1 mile from the Overton Square neighborhood, where you'll find more Midtown restaurants, shops, music venues, Ballet Memphis and Playhouse on the Square.

At Overton Park you will find the Memphis Zoo, the Brooks Museum of Art, Overton Park Shell (famous outdoor music venue), a dog park, a golf course, a patch of woods with walking trails, as well as paved roads, and more.

Enjoy these amazing neighborhoods, as well as all that Memphis has to offer.

    Getting Around:

Our neighborhood is very walkable, but other than that we recommend driving everywhere. If you don't have a car, then uber/lyft are the only way to go.

    Interaction with Guests:

We provide self check-in. You will receive all details prior to arrival.

We are available by message or phone call for anything you may need!
