Hidden gem tucked away with old European charm, apparently it is old but owner and staff maintained it very well. Good amenities considering price you will pay, will come back again when there is a chance!
This is an old 1930s or so hotel that has been well kept. We were pleased with the staff , The beds were comfortable and the room clean. They had a floor AC unit which for me as a person running hot was very comfortable. The bathroom was small but efficient and clean. We would stay again.
Absolute bargain for the money.
It is an old historic building that has tons of character. Small rooms but we were just there to sleep anyway. Comfortable bed. Was honestly shocked at how clean and well kept it was. Totally impressed the walls didn’t show cracked plaster and such. Loved the antiques. Owner clearly cares for the building and takes pride in it.
We stayed here for one night with a group of five and had a wonderful experience. The owner was incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to make us feel at home. Breakfast the following morning was excellent, offering a wide variety of delicious options. The hotel is also conveniently located, making it a great choice for travelers. Highly recommended!
Quaint historic hotel: comfortable, clean and well maintained. The rooms are small compared contemporary hotels and motels, but that's part of the charm. The continental breakfast was remarkable with hot and cold food choices and plenty of fresh brewed coffee. Hotel staff were professional, helpful and friendly. An excellent value and a unique, positive experience.

Breakfast was great ! No TV available no wifi connection. They tried to fix it Saturday night. Sunday night no TV service at all. They brought up something about years ago when we came to this country blah blah never should have been brought up into the discussion. "You should feel fortunate"...couldn't really understand her accent. Musty ol smells in the lobby. Carpet needs to be replaced smells were horrible.
This is an old property with nice antique charm. The rooms were a bit small, but still worth the money. Breakfast was good with some hot options. We enjoyed the ambience.
There was a problem with my reservation, but the lady upgraded me to a suite (I only had to pay $100 for the 2 days), which was worth it. They use an a/c unit in the rooms; there was two fans in my suite. The room does get cold enough to be comfortable. I like my morning coffee, but they only had a small coffee pot with no cream or sugar, so I just got my coffee at breakfast. They have breakfast from 7-9am. The breakfast is decent; it's continental. There is a microwave and fridge/freezer in the room. Overall, it was good for the two nights I spent there. The only thing that I didn't like was the bathroom sink is very small and sits over the toilet.

The hotel is a good location in downtown Monte Vista.
This was a unique hotel but it is very dated and is very worn, but our room WAS clean.
The breakfast timing window was short, and food was OK, but was included in the stay, so it was good enough!
It’s still a bit of a haul to Great Sands from here which is why we were staying here.

The toilet is situated right next to the very small sink-I used the sink as an arm rest.
The toilet poorly accommodates large people. The shower stall and tub need refinishing. I was pleasantly surprised that Netflix and Prime are available at no cost. The hotel is an historical site and I appreciate that.
We enjoyed our stay at this clean and well kept historic hotel during our visit to the annual Sandhill Crane Festival. It is conveniently located near eateries, wild life sanctuaries, and the glorious Sangre de Cristo mountains. For anyone who loves staying at old historic inns, the Monte Villa is ideal..
The only place where the owner walks you through the building to makes sure you find your room . And breakfast was fresh and good . The rooms are clean with pillows that dont hurt your neck in the morning .
