"We waited over 15 minutes to check in, as we had to go to the bar and wait for the bar tender to help us, but she was nice and we had a drink while we waited. The property is a bit tired (some chipped paint, slanting floors), but that is to be expected in an old building, and the location and extremely comfortable bed more than made up for that. We would definitely stay here again."

"The Ben Miller Inn is an 1880's woollen mill set in a beautiful wooded area with hiking trails all around. This time of year the maple trees put on a beautiful display of colour. We stayed 2 nights while attending a family wedding on the property. Check in was friendly and efficient. They give you 3 actual keys to open your building (there are several), your room and the pool area. The locks are old and it takes a bit of patience to get them to work properly but they do the job. Our room was spacious and well appointed, with a whirlpool bath, king sized bed and a huge window overlooking the river. There was no safe, which would have been nice and the furnishings were a bit worn. New drapes and some new artwork would have spiffed things up at minimal cost. There's a very large, very clean indoor pool you can probably have to yourself. It was well maintained but the same could not be said of the plant display at the top of the stairs - one large plant was completely dead and another was on its way out. Removing them would be a big improvement. We ate dinner in the dining room one evening and had a very positive experience. The server was friendly, helpful and experienced. The menu was quite varied with reasonably priced entrees. Food was done perfectly and their wedgie potatoes were the best I've had anywhere. Little candles on the tables provided a little ambiance along with the beamed ceilings and stonework ."

Had a great stay, the only thing I can complain about is that I asked for a late check out, confirming with the gentleman at the front desk that I could check out at 12pm. 11am housekeeper banging on door and front desk calling saying I had to be out at 11. "Clean, spacious room with a quiet backyard. Close to downtown Goderich, and a 40-minute drive if you want to explore Grand Bend Beach or Pinery Provincial Park—both beautiful. Great breakfast in a nice setting. My dog enjoyed her stay too. They even provided dog bowl and towel."

There are a little over 100 stairs down to the beach, but don't worry -- they are very well built, and on the way there are multiple landings with benches and views and a perfect little sunset deck above the beach. Top notch customer service and communication."
