"Nice hotel overall ~ Full sun most of the day, very few umbrellas, even fewer tables between the chairs ~ most guests had to continously hold their drinks, set them down on the concrete, in the pool, or on the sand!!! Just silly when small tables are so inexpensive ~ at bare minimum find a way to add cupholders to the chairs... "

"The hotel is small and family-friendly with welcoming, helpful staff. The decor is really nice and the property is very clean. Our room was spacious and modern with very comfortable beds. The shower is glass and basically in the open, so there's not a lot of privacy. The balconies are beautiful and the balcony doors are very high quality so they keep out a lot of noise from the music by the pool and nearby bars. The pool is stylish and clean and it was great to have hot tubs right beside it. They play loud music by the pool from about 7:30 am, which I found annoying. There is one main restaurant that serves a great breakfast and does a late lunch/dinner service. The portions are small but there are no issues if you order multiple items. There is also a good snack bar. I chose the hotel because I thought it was on a beach. This is technically true, but the sand is very gravelly and it's not suitable for swimming. The water is shallow and silty. You can't go out very far because there is boat activity in the area. I hoped to walk around the local area to see sights and explore, that's not really possible. There's not much to see nearby and a lot of the island is hidden away behind high walls or bushes. It costs $10-$15 US to get a taxi to the town/beaches in the north. Those beaches are nice but crowded. There are some great beach clubs like Mayan with sun loungers and good food. Overall, I found the town tacky and hectic and a lot of the island run-down and depressing."

"This is a beautiful Villa! Very clean! We have been going to Isla for almost 20 years and have seen so many of the island changes and have rented out our timeshare to stay on Isla and this is one of the cleanest places we have stayed! The two master bedrooms are amazing and provides privacy for couples to have alone time also! The bathrooms are clean and the showers are very nice.The owner Ashley was so wonderful with getting back to me while making our trip plans, which also makes the trip non stressful! She also provided cart rentals and companies for rides to/from the airport, which we used without any issues.When we checked in, the property manager was waiting for us! That was great!The only thing that was disappoint was the pool was not heated and with a trip in March, I would recommend a heated pool. my mistake and I overlooked it when we made plans. Later in the year, the pool would be perfect, unfortunately we did not use it."

"Wonderful resort, good food a few items not to my liking but overall very good “fantastic pizza at SeaSalt” extremely friendly staff with shout outs to Lizbeth, Liza at reception, Ivan life guard” great guy”, Claudia and Karen on the beach, Juan, Javier and Alajendro at Boca, Omar and Pablo at SeaSalt, Andrea and Floberto at the pool cafe and Diego the Manager. All made our trip special."

"Casa de la Olas was a lovely oasis for our week long family holiday! Everyone had their own space and the dining/kitchen area big enough to share. The pool has a great mix of sun and shade and there are many lovely spots to relax on the property. Sunrises were spectacular! Getting around the island by taxi was effortless. Dave was very prompt and easy to communicate with as was the local property management crew. I wouldn’t hesitate to go back - a fabulous week at Casa de las Olas! "

"This has been my family's second stay at Casa Azul Maya and we enjoy the large Isla room on the second floor. Plenty of space for our 3 kids to spread out. Air conditioners in all 3 rooms work well and you can tailor the temp to however you like. Off the beaten path so it's more quiet which is great for a family or couple looking to have a peaceful escape. The staff at Casa Azul Maya are incredible and take great care of you. Angel and Geo are incredible and make you feel like family. Their connection with Lorettas for breakfast and beach chairs is also so worth it. Will gladly be back again in the future."
