"When I arrived at the White Bear it had closed down. Worrying? Not the case because there was a notice on the door saying that while the bar was finished, the key was available from the Green Dragon 100 metres away. The barman called someone who came quickly and let me in but I had to carrying my luggage 200 metres further than expected. The room was along a dark corridor and upstairs which caused fumbling, and was small so hard to navigate. The bathroom had too small a sink which could have been bigger if it had been fixed against another wall. The lack of space to put my toiletries made me put them on the top of the toilet which was curved so they slid off onto the floor. A bodged job? Not entirely but more thought could have gone into the installations"

"Friendly welcome despite a minor flood that has just occurred. Nice room but a bit small and cramped en suite. Continental breakfast was fine."

"Perfect escape and perfectly placed to explore beautiful North Yorkshire and beyond. Surprise welcome pack with all sorts of delicious treats, even the dogs got one! Great circular walk by the stream from the doorstep and driving in any direction offered breathtaking views. The cottage was so tastefully presented and spotless throughout. Lovely neighbours too, we could have stayed on another week. Will recommend to family and friends Looking forward to a return visit… thank you so much"
